Title: new workout suggestions
Post by: spring0721 on December 15, 2012, 06:05:05 PM
I'm looking for maybe some new workout suggestions.  I ultimately would like to lose 5lbs that just seem to linger.  I'm 5'2 1/2 and 117lbs...I'm also 30.  I can definitely tell that my metabolism has changed in the last 10 years.  Currently I run 2 miles 4 or 5 days a week, that's really it tho.  I eat around 1300 calories a day and pretty balanced diet.  I don't really like the idea of cutting a certain food out altogether because once I begin eating again the 5lbs will come back.  It seems like the only success I've had was a couple of months ago I dropped my caloric intake to 800 a day, I did get down to 112 after 2 weeks but I couldn't sustain the 800 calories.  So any ideas on what I can do that I will be able to stay with long term?

Try yoga. It'll help with your running because you'll be stronger and more flexible, it'll calm you down, and just make you really happy!  ;D

I enjoy the videos from Gaiam.

Thank you LH! I just ordered the a.m./p.m. yoga dvd with rodney yee so I'll see if this works for me.  Thanks for the suggestion!

I took two weeks off of yoga to study for finals. I did Rodney Yee's Strength Building yesterday and again today, agh! My arms feel like they're about to fall off. Two weeks makes a huge difference.

I have a friend at work who does all those 90 day program workouts, and she said she's going to let me use her ChaLean Extreme videos. They look good, and they're only supposed to be 30-45 minute workouts (I'll have to wait to do her P90X over the summer, because there's no way I could fit their 90 minute workouts into the school year). I'll let you know how ChaLean is once I get going on it.

P90X is not a 90 minute workout, only the yoga workout is that long. The rest are 45-60 minutes and that includes 15-20 minutes of warming up and cooling down.

Lh, I'm not used to doing anything BUT run, so if your arms feel like they're falling off after only a 2 week break than I'll probably be dead by the second day ! Lol...yes please let me know how it goes.

If you were a CIS woman with medium bone structure at 5' 2" you would weigh between 118 -132 lbs. So your weight is not a problem. 1300 calories is just fine too, most importantly those calories have to be from lean meats, fish and poultry, veggies and fruits with no sodas, extra sugars and low carbs staying at 1300 calories per day. Eat small and more often like grazing. Drink adequate water and stay hydrated. What you probably want to do is get some toning. Crunches and floor exercises opposite of your running days and you'll be really fit and trim in no time.

Thanks Shantel! Yeah maybe I need to add some crunches and toning exercises.  I am fairly small framed so maybe that will help. Thanks for the suggestion:)
