I was cleaning the toilets at work today and it suddenly struck me just how low my crotch is in comparison to the urinals.  I'm not using mens' bathrooms at the moment, but if I was going to be then I'd probably be stuck using cubicles even if I had an STP that passes because my crotch is about the same level as the bottom of the urinal.

Has anyone else had this problem and do you still manage to use urinals or not?  I'm 5'1".

I have no input... I'm just glad this topic is here and hope folks can chime in. I have never used a urinal yet because I'm not confident enough with any STP device, but whenever I take the time to look at them they're often just too high for me.

Fun fact: In the movie "School of Rock" they tried to use a sight gag with Jack Black using a kid's urinal, but the joke didn't register with anyone because of his height ;D

I have that problem, im 5'3 most of them to high for me, if im lucky there might be a kids ones but they arnt easy to find.

I saw a guy who was 5'2 who had his own little stepladder. It was either that or finding a stall for him

Some men's room have urinals for young boys.  Otherwise they use the stalls.

  A lot of the chain restaurants have lower urinals for the boys.  But I seen other men use the toilet with the seat up nonetheless of their height.

That's a good idea but I don't think I'll be carrying a stepladder around with me wherever I go!

I know loads of guys use toilets, it's just frustrating that this is yet another thing that will be a constant reminder of this, and my height is probably the thing that grates me the most anyway because it's the one thing that will never change.

naw he didn't take it everywhere he went...he left it in our company bathroom. He even painted it and put little designs on it. I had to say I was rather impressed!

But i think a lot of bathrooms has those kiddie urinals now. Havent been in one in a few years but from what i remember there are a lot of bathrooms that has those type of urinals

i don't know how it is where you are but in australia most places unless its a high end resturant will have a trough urinal so hight isn't really a factor

yeah ..The United States of America stopped making trough urinals in the 1970s. You can only find those in very old warehouses or a stadium that hadn't been renovated

I've never had a problem with a urinal being too high for me and I'm not a tall guy at all.
Perhaps I've just gotten lucky thus far.

Either way, I wouldn't mind using the stall if this ever did happen though.

Yeah I pretty lucky I have bight in my favor I'm 5'9 don't know how I got it seeing my mother is 5'0 and my dad 5'10

my 2 cent, I am in the US and been using the men's for over a year now.  I do not use the urinals as I haven't found a STP that works for me.  I can make the medicine spoon type work in the shower but when I try with my jeans or other pant on I have a problem.  My urethra opening seems to be so far under me that when I get the STP in place through the fly in my pant the opening is pointed up and the urine can't flow out.  I haven't been able to find any pant that have a zipper that opens far enough down for me to use a STP.  I would have to wear my pants way down on my hips to have the zipper open lower enough which doesn't look good.  I hate to see guys with there pant that low, I saw some on the train the other day.  Anyway in most the men's room I go into have at least one urinal that is much lower than the others, I thought is way that way for the little boys to use.  Last summer at a ballpark I was in a men's room that had the trough urinals around the walls with all the guys there peeing.  Also in one with urinals around all the walls and no dividers between them.  I don't think I will ever to be able to use those types of urinals, even with successful lower surgery.

I'd be worried that people seeing me use boys urinals would think that I was some kind of pervert or something, even though I don't pass for my age at the moment, I don't look *little boy* young.  I'm probably just over thinking this way too much, it's just needing to pee and I don't even use the mens bathrooms yet.

I will be practicing with my STP more now though because my girlfriend's just given me a onsie for christmas and it's too much effort to take off :P

Alex,  what is an onsie? I don't think I have ever heard of that one before.  I wouldn't be afraid on using the lower urinal as I have seen tall guys using them when the others are being used.  My problem is being able to use my STP with my pant up at any urinal.

I'm about 5'5'' ish and I can reach the urinal ok. The only one I used at my school anyways. Urinals are not my preferance because standing there holding my junk while a bunch of other guys are holding thier junk seems kind of silly to me. I prefer my privacy I guess. I also wish all urinals had better dividers.

I will be for the rest of the winter probably because it's so cold in my room (I have no heating and it's an attic room so no insulation).  Normally I just roll into bed in whatever clothes I'm wearing and they become my pajamas for the next week -- I'm a lazy creature.  They're a bit of a craze here in the U.K., you get some nutters who wear them outside, but mostly they're just for being cozy and chilling around the house in.

I guess I'd be too short to use the urinal too. That's kind of sad, I always kind of pictured the first time using a urinal as a momentous occassion for any FTM.

I used to have something like that when I was really young, except it wasn't an animal.

the urinals i always see are very low but i could see how the higher up ones could be and issue but most retail places and such have at least one extra low urinal for short guys and boys. although my 5'2" brother always uses the normal size ones and i think m 4'10" brother can use the normal ones to but maybe the bathrooms ive been in with them have low urinals. never really thought about this issue as im 5'10"

This reminds me of a trip to Amsterdam a couple of years ago.

The Dutch are the tallest race on Earth and they set up their bathrooms accordingly. My (cisgendered) male friend went to use the urinal in a restaurant we visited, and he laughed that he had to stand on his tippy-toes and lean back so that he could reach it. He joked that he needed a stepladder to take a leak; he felt like a small child again. He's 5'11.

Apparently their urinals are REALLY high on the wall because Dutch men tend to be over 6ft tall.  ;D

Don't feel uncomfortable by using either the stall or short urinal... the last thing any man wants to do in a public restroom is police it, so no one will think one way - or another - about how you take care of your business.

I don't use urinals because I'm not confident or comfortable and I don't think my packer will pass. But I'm sure there'd be some kind of height issue. :(

I remember when i used to use the men's bathrooms I just could not pee in a urinal...i couldn't pee that close to another person lol.
