Ok. So I've never made a video before--much less posted it on YouTube--but I had some free time a few days ago, so I spent some time producing a video--messing around with pictures, captions, and audio and all that so it may seem kinda silly, I don't know.

But anyhow, in the first few minutes of the video I just wanted to find out what you all thought about how I pass. I feel like I can't walk out the door without make up... I guess many girls feel this way, not sure?... but I really want to feel like I don't have to worry too much, like any other woman, if I run out quickly without make-up. So I decided to do the video without make-up.

Also, I'm never sure about my voice. I really want some outside opinions regarding how my voice is. It really concerns me sometimes.  :-\ I'm sorry about the sound quality--not the best I know and you'll probably have to turn ur speakers up--but its the best I have at the moment.

Then the last couple minutes of the video are just before pictures, and a few from the past 4 months--since I started transitioning.

Anyways, I'd be happy to hear you're thoughts.

Really? Thank you. I feel so unsure of myself in public it sometimes overwhelms me. I have a couple friends that tell me this too, but I have a hard time believing them because they're just so supportive of EVERYTHING I do, like they're just trying to be extra nice in a tough situation. But its good to know you all think it is working for me!
And I'm really so relieved to hear you're thoughts on my voice. Sometimes I'm happy with it, sometimes I'm not. And when I made this video, it was the latter. So thank you everyone. I feel pretty good right now.

Thanks but I'm definitely not 100%. I know without a doubt my profile is a dead giveaway for me, my nose is big even for a guy! My buddies always used to tease me about it even then! My jowls are pretty strong too. And I can't wait to get electrolysis. My beard grows fast and the stubble sticks out like a sore thumb, even freshly shaved and with make-up a lot of the time.

Honestly I didn't notice any facial features that stood out as distinctly masculine. I even went back and looked at your nose and I still don't see it. Guys pick on each other all the time, at least where I'm from. It doesn't really mean anything unless you let it. I assume when you stated "even then" with the teasing, that you meant before you were out.

I don't offer opinions on passing very often and see too many times here where people say others pass when they obviously don't.  There was NOTHING that tipped me off as you being anything but 100% natural born female and I was looking pretty hard. You are very pretty and you should be very proud of your hard work!

You pass completely to me. You look great! I struggle to believe that it's the same person in the end pictures as the beginning pictures. A big well done for losing all that weight too.

beautiful, cute, real, and yes, do sound like a woman you are. As others have mentioned, luuuuucccckkkyyyyyy with hyper feminine genetics. If you have a chance do have chromosomal testing, do it, I would bet that it will come back triple digit, however unimportant in who you are.

Looks-wise, as everyone says, you're a total, 100%, super-pretty pass - you're MUCH better looking as a girl than a guy and you've got a very sweet, feminine smile, too.

The only remark I have, and it's intended as totally constructive advice, is that you should try to put a bit more intonation and variation of pitch into your voice. One of the main differences in male and female speech patterns is that guys tend to speak in a monotone, and emphasise a point using volume, whereas women speak in a much more up-and-down style and emphasise with pitch: going higher to express intensity, rather than just louder.

Since you're a musician, heres's a simple, if old-fashioned comparison. Think of the Beatles: specifically, the double A-side single Strawberry Fields Forever and Penny Lane. Strawberry Fields is a Lennon song and, like most of his mid/late Beatles stuff, the melody line is pretty much contained within a very narrow range: that's like a guy talking. Now think of Penny Lane, which is a McCartney song, and, like most of HIS stuff is much brighter and bounces up and down the scale: that's like a girl.

Right now you sound Lennon. The moment you sound McCartney, you'll be as passable with your voice as you already are with your looks!

My voice really bothers me. A lot of people tell me I sound fine, but to me I think in my head that there is something wrong with it. I just can't figure it out. So I am very happy to have gotten this from you. Thanks. I'm going to work on that. I guess I'm hitting a good pitch? Just not varied enough.

The pitch is fine ... the rest is just practice. Good luck! And rest assured, you're already 95% of the way to being a gorgeous young woman.

It's now marked private. Given the sort of jerks who comment sometimes on YouTube videos I have to wonder whether she didn't decide to change its status after getting the positive feedback it had here? Would like to have seen it too.

There is an option on YouTube to make your videos unlisted.  There are much better privacy options on Vimeo, but it's harder to open a totally anonymous account there.

One of these days, when I'm less self conscious, I hope to put up a video or two myself, one about my trans issues, as opposed to the kind of things I've put on YouTube that are less directly personal.
