For those that have a problem doing the T injections, wanted to share this. I inject in the thigh muscle. I have found if I take a washcloth and run it under very hot water. put that on the muscle and do very light message, the shot goes very smooth. No pain and no muscle ache after.

*Gets out the smelling salts for Devlyn and Jenny*
You could probably fill an empty water bottle full of hot water and hold it to the muscle and get more warmth to it.
I'm contemplating trying the thigh next but I didn't even feel the one in my gluteal muscle. At one point my gf cussed and I thought she drew out blood but she said she had to push the needle in hard because it wouldn't go in enough. I never felt it.

Yea I do the thigh muscle. Just alternate legs with every shot. And yea just relaxing the muscle as best you can. It's always going to be a little anxiety provoking, but the more you can relax the muscle and yourself, by deep breathing...the easier it gets.

Adrenaline also helps. I remember I was so excited and nervous for my first shot, I didn't feel it go in.
Second shot? Felt a twinge, some weird not-quite-pain in the muscle, then my leg was sore afterwards.

siege! Big Star Trek fan, right here.
Back on topic. My endo used to always smack my butt the second before he injected me. No, he wasn't into me, he explained that smacking the muscle distracts it from the pain. Makes sense to me. Smack and then inject.

So your endo just slapped and stuck? It can be that easy?

Im more of voyager guy. But TNG is started to grow on me. Only watched the the series once, so its up for round two soon.
Yeah, he just smacked my bum and stuck it in (sounds so wrong haha). It minimized the pain. I think it varies though. Sometimes I dont even feel my shot, and sometimes it stings. I noticed that if I have too much coffee I am more sensitive to the pain. I would say there is nothing wrong with having a glass of wine before your shot. Assuming the person is healthy enough and has no issues with alchohol.

Voyager FTW!! 7 of 9 is reason enough to watch, lol.
Thanks for the idea about slapping before sticking. However, my gf is going to think I'm just getting more kinky, lol.

Simon, you sound like my roommate. He says the same thing. :P
I like icing my leg before injecting, though I'm gonna try the slapping myself in the thigh thing next time.

I get my 10mL vial with no insurance (lasts most guys anywhere from 5 to 10 months) for $96. I've heard it's cheaper at Costco (or even online at Strohecker's). You don't take injections daily but if you use the cream or gel you will apply it daily (the gels, creams, and patches are expensive and especially so without insurance that covers HRT for transsexuals). On this site dosage talk is a big no-no so I'd advise waiting to see your doctor as everyone's dose is different.

We can't discuss dosages on here to prevent people self medicating. Do you already have a diagnosis of GID (or whatever you need for your area?) because it's very, very, very unlikely that your doctor will just give you testosterone on your first visit about this.

I get a 10mL vial for 38 bucks from APS Pharmacy. Add in needles, syringes, and shipping and it comes out to 51 bucks. That lasts me about 5 months. We can't discuss exact dosages, but injections are either a weekly, or biweekly thing, not an everyday thing. There are some forms of injectable that are done every three months or so but those are not common in the US.
