Title: Facial Waxing and LHR Efficiency

I can't afford LHR at the moment because of various financial circumstances, but I could sugar or wax my face. Is that going to weaken the hair and make it lighter? I don't want to reduce the chances that LHR will have lasting effects on me.
My hormones have been doing a great job for me, I'm losing weight, and I'm starting to pass as female without even trying even with my stubborn shadow (I'm porcelain skinned with raven hair, I can't make the shadow disappear no matter how close the shave). I'm anxious to wax it so I can express myself better and finally be free.
Does anyone have some insight on the waxing and LHR effectiveness?

Don't do facial waxing! You could cause scarring or worse, I just don't think it sounds good.

Waxing your face is not a good move.. I've been told that it can damage the follicle, making lhr (or electrolysis) less likely to work..
I know someone who did it - they had a face that glowed like Rudoplh's nose for about a week..

Okay, thanks ladies. I guess I'll hold off until I can scrounge up the money for groupon.

Dermablend make up may help. It is designed to cover scars and portwine skin stains so it should cover beard shadow.

Waxing your face would be pretty up there on the pain chart. Beard hair is well anchored, often follicles are in close proximity to each other and they are deep, It's really not a good idea.
If you're going to have laser the last thing you want to do is make the hair lighter. If you're going to stand any chance of successful lasering the hairs need to be dark....

Dermablend works great. Use it lightly. I also use ColorStay powder as a setting powder.

Quote from: smooth on December 23, 2012, 05:43:16 PMThank you for the reply. Do you think this goes for body hair too? I've been on HRT for nearly two years and mine is exactly the same. I think about waxing it, but then I think about groupon and how I could get it all done. I'm so torn.

i.e. Is it only a bad idea to wax facial hair in spite of LHR or does that apply to all hair?
As for dermablend: thank you, I'll look into that.

I've never tried waxing myself, not even for fun or charity. Which gets me to thinking about other things people do for charity, like jumping from a plane, running a marathon or shaving their heads.... (both of them) There's a pattern here somewhere and then I found myself on youtube and what did I find
Hot Girls Bush Wax-ed No More Stars very funny bush wax omg (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_mZovzeYST4#)
The guy at the very end confirmed what is apparently true, that women have higher pain thresholds.

Holy s**t!!!!! I'd be really interested to see the aftermath of that. I wonder did he get the rest of his face done.... and if he did what did he look like afterwards.... I still say it's a bad idea. Most of those hairs would have been ripped out in the opposite direction of growth, in itself probably super irritating for the skin...

I was a bear til the HRT kicked in and a few body waxes got rid of it for good.It stings a bit at first and leaves you red but it works

Quote from: big kim on December 24, 2012, 02:52:48 PMI'm really tempted to try this but I'm afraid it won't get rid of mine for good, and then I'll be stuck with fine hair and have to resort to electrolysis. How many times did you have to wax before it vanished, and how long were you on your full dosage of HRT?

I was on full dose HRT for about 6 months before trying waxing,it took around 7 waxes to clear unwanted body hair.Remember to give it time to grow back before getting waxed, pain wise it was more uncomfortable than painful,Good lluck!

Kim if you'd have waited a while it would have probably disappeared on it's own. Waxing doesn't get rid of hair permanently but for some the mones will do the job. It just takes a while for the hair to go full cycle and shed as it normally would...
Merry christmas ;D

Quote from: big kim on December 25, 2012, 03:05:02 AMOkay, thank you Kim. I've been on HRT since April of 2011 and my body hair looks exactly the same as it ever did. I've tried waxing/sugaring before, the "pain" really doesn't bother me at all so I can handle that.

I suppose I'll give it a try. I just hope it works out for me and I don't end up shooting myself in the foot.
