Two States Insist on Transgender Health Coverage (http://www.newsmax.com/US/Oregon-Transgender-California-Insurance/2013/01/11/id/471078)
Quote
Regulators in Oregon and California have quietly directed some health insurance companies to stop denying coverage for transgender patients because of their gender identity.
The states aren't requiring coverage of specific medical treatments. But they told some private insurance companies they must pay for a transgender person's hormone therapy, breast reduction, cancer screening or any other procedure deemed medically necessary if they cover it for patients who aren't transgender.
The changes apply to companies insuring about a third of Oregonians and about 7 percent of Californians, but not to people on Medicare and Medicaid or to the majority of Californians who are insured through a health management organization, or HMO.
Title: Inappropriate Representation of Trans* People by Fox News

Fox publishes an inappropriate picture with an article about two States which are forcing the insurance companies to not deny coverage for trans related health care issues. I wonder what we could do to tell Fox how distasteful this is?

There is nothing inappropriate about the "Fox" article. In fact, it originated with the Associated Press, and was picked up by the Fox blog from World Net Daily.
The text of the article is straight forward reporting.

I think it was the picture that was used that was the complaint [it was of Robin Williams as Mrs. Doubtfire with pans over his breasts] though it appears they took down the picture and put up a different one.
The text, though, I agree was straight forward and inoffensive [which amazed me, but that's just me being biased against Fox News].

Yeah, they did take down the picture.

It was still Mrs Doubtfire when I posted it, so they must have done it very recently. Anyway, they must have gotten some flack over the picture. I agree that the story was actually pretty straightforward.

There is now a petition regarding Fox's coverage of this story, I've posted info about it in Community Alerts.
