Hey Chris,
I feel ya. I recently had to fire my therapist because she wasn't helping me at all and she had ZERO knowledge about trans* clients. I always did so much educating and I realize that I generally didn't feel safe in therapy. I felt more like a curious object of study. It took me four months of weekly sessions to figure that out.
In sum, it can be maddening to have to follow WPATH therapeutic requirements because so few therapists know what they're doing or there just aren't enough with the necessary skills accessible to us.
Have you thought about calling insurance directly? You can also search for them by visiting the Psychology Today online directories. They usually lost their accepted client populations and insurance partners. http://m.therapists.psychologytoday.com/rms/prof_search.php (http://m.therapists.psychologytoday.com/rms/prof_search.php)
I'm still looking too, so you're not alone!
Best,
Sam

Thank you.Alittle update tho on this post.I found that my insurance does cover everything G.I.D related and hormones, which is good.i was able to find a list of doctors i need in my area who deal with G.I.D but i need to call and make sure they take my insurance,so now i dont feel so stuck at one anymore and it feels nice to have options coming into the open. :)

I hope they don't specifically exclude trans issues from treatment. That's always disturbing. Providers who are unfamiliar with the situation are sometimes still useful and willing to learn.
Anyway good to hear your insurance covers this. Hope it proceeds in a good way.

I got lobbed around between several therapists once because they didn't know how to treat trans issues. Then the ones I did spend some time with tried pegging me with OCD, which makes no sense. Finally the "expert" in my geographic area at the time had a conflict of interest with another family member of mine so I couldn't see him anymore. I ended up getting side tracked and delayed treatment for years because, in part, of all that.
Good thing is it sounds like you're making over this bump. Still I feel compelled to say, stay strong and don't lose heart!
