All things considered I don't think my life turned out that bad. Could I have transitioned earlier? Sure, but I didn't so why sit and try to think about the what ifs. I didn't like losing a job over this, that sucked. Yes I was able to get a fresh start but I did take a huge pay cut and it took a good 5 years to get my earning potential back. I am satisfied with my surgical outcomes, so I don't have any complaints there. I don't think this is helping, because I feel I did things right for me, and I am a happier person as a result of my transition.

 I freaked out stopped transition and had my breasts removed.  Then that b rings on the real freak out and back on transition I was. Dr. did a bad job and the boobs grew back. Awsome ha? I am not sure. I have to shave everyday but the electrolysis in on Maui or Oahu so I have to ad plane and cab to the appointment. The town is small but nobody cares other than the fact i dont put out..

What kind of pitfalls do you want to know about Ellie?  Are you asking about mistakes that some of us might have made?  Regrets after SRS?

looking back there's not much I would have done any other way.

I did give up on what friends I did have before we moved, but I think they would have been more hassle if they were still in my life.

My pitfalls are decisions made from fear. Wish I was more aggressive at hair removal.  My life now sees the old life as some nightmare dream.  moving so much into my new life and ignoring my past I literally stand there wondering who my own brother is and why these people are in my life. Surgery has cured a block in me and a plethora of multiple talents have begun flowing like a river from my core. The best thing I ever done to love myself...

I wished I had had the Surgery Earlier Because the Longer you are on Hormones & I mean by that I was on Hormones 16 years before I had surgery & the longer you are on them the less skin you will have for the surgeon to work with.
You are In effect self Castrating your self.
So have your surgery earlier rather than later.

babz i never thought about it like that but i guess your right.

I know I could of gone after things sooner. I was so use to do things my own way that I did not realize how much time I was wasting. I started taking hormones at 16 on my own, yet I did not get them prescribed till ten years later. And I also did not look into surgery as much as I should of, as I just assumed it was out of my range, and did not want to tease myself, but it turned out I could of afforded it much sooner. Overall I'm just happy I finally did things when I did and able to move on and forward with my life.

About the only thing that would have benefited my life would have been to be born 10 years later! As it was I always seemed to be "the first one in" and was dealing with doctors who didn't have a clue. I was terribly young and that didn't help being taken seriously back then either. I was diagnosed by Harry Benjamin in 1966 at the age of 16, found a doctor who would put me on HRT at 17 (without parental consent) and had surgery with Dr. Biber in 1974, at the age of 24 - I think I have a 2-digit serial number LOL! I wish they had androgen blockers back then but I did everything as early as it was humanly possible (for that period in time).

Aside from losing more weight prior to HRT and surgery, I would have come out to my good friends sooner. Everything else was lovely.

Yeah, a few pounds lighter and my surgery would have been cheaper!!  SIGH.  I couldn't pass up getting it sooner though.  The date was supposed to be two weeks from now, but it was bumped up to January.

Ah, yes. Bowers charges extra for extra weight. Fortunately for me, Brassard does not. I did lose 10 lbs in recovery, though.
