i am wanting to live my life fulltime as a woman. i want to have breasts, but i dont want to have the sugery to remove my penis. this is so confusing me. i have looked on multiple sites to see if i could find any information on this but to no avail. i have even come real close to suicide over this. please if anyone has some insight please please let me know........Sarah T-Girl

Sarah, although I can not relate to the way you feel, I understand how it is to be different.  I also know how hard it is to find information on these topics.

This doesn't indicate that I accept Blanchard's  ->-bleeped-<- theories but that seems to be what SarahTgirl4ever is describing. Not what is normally accepted as clinical transsexuality.

Transsexualism has three criteria:

• The desire to live and be accepted as a member of the opposite sex, usually accompanied by the wish to make his or her body as congruent as possible with the preferred sex through surgery and hormone treatment;
• The transsexual identity has been present persistently for at least two years;
• The disorder is not a symptom of another mental disorder or a chromosomal abnormality.

While they use the word usually above, I would say it's more like always.

What she describes sounds more like dual-role transvestism...

Dual-role Transvestism has three criteria:

• The individual wears clothes of the opposite sex in order to experience temporary membership in the opposite sex;
• There is no sexual motivation for the cross-dressing;
• The individual has no desire for a permanent change to the opposite sex.

There is absolutely nothing wrong for individuals who crossdress for sexual or non-sexual reasons. Based on what you have chosen to disclose, I would suggest that the latter applies in your case. Just something for you to consider.

that was some helpful advice but i dont get turned on by wearing womens clothes. that is how i am comfortable. i cannot be comfortable wearing mens clothing. i get anxious if i have to leave the clothes behind. i have to always have them with me. i still at this point have to wear mens clothes cause i am not out of the closet as of yet but i am working on it. Susan you are a wonderful person i hope i can hear more from you.

Here's some quick info to help you on your way:

Transsexual persons have a psychological urge to belong to the opposite sex and to live as a member of the opposite sex and may be motivated to acquire the necessary physical appearance (with genital surgery and/or hormone use) in order to adopt the social role of the opposite sex.

Transgenderist persons live in the gender role of the opposite sex full-time. There may be interest in cross-sex hormones and aesthetic cosmetic surgery, but genital surgery is not desired.

Bi-gender persons identify as both masculine and feminine, and may live part-time as a man and part-time as a woman. There may be interest in cross-sex hormones and aesthetic cosmetic surgery, but genital surgery is not desired.

And one of the answers you are bound to see here is the very strong recommendation to see a gender counselor/therapist.  Gender identification issues are extremely powerful, and many - if not most of us - need professional help in sorting through our innermost fancies/desires/identification to find our own truth.

First and foremost seek therapy!
From what you are describing you are probably a transgenderist (also known as a non-op transsexual). 

We all have had our highly closeted periods in our life.  It is part of the transgender experience. 

anatomic  ->-bleeped-<- has been discredited, and for good reason. 

Calm down, friend. Don't rush to diagnoses or prognostications. Read, talk, explore. Don't forget to breathe! See a gender-issue experienced therapist.
It's ok if you don't find yourself in one of the main categories. Things may change, given time and TLC.
