Title: I (do) have a job!

Okay. It's nothing special. I'm not in the middle of transitioning, trying to pass, and landing a career. But, work is work! It's an entry level customer service position with the city, but it looks fantastic on the resume and is a great stepping stone to a ton of local businesses. Four peoples' schedules are changing today and two positions opening, and from what the bosslady told my friend (who's been working like a fiend to get me in) she wants to hire me as soon as she's figured out the new hours, which could be as early as tomorrow but probably later in the week.
So, counting ducks before they hatch notwithstanding... ;D
I'm mostly excited because job = laser hair removal since I'm lucky to have little other financial requirements at the moment.
Though, I have to buy more guys' clothing. Been a while since I've done that.
edit: Heh.
So I didn't get that one. Interviewed, walked out and hooked up with my friend, the boss called him and told him she was hiring me, then a few days later she let him go instead of cutting his hours back, and told me she found someone else.
However, it only took three days of actual job hunting to get hired (and a week to get processed!) In 12 hours, I'm in orientation for my new job. It's significantly worse, but a job's a job. I've got an application in at a place I'd really like to work at instead, so hopefully in a couple of weeks I'll be able to drop this one and upgrade, or work both for badly needed money.
Too bad I have to buy polo shirts and slacks. At least all black is acceptable dress code.

Congrats! I hope every change you make is a step up from the one you leave.

Well considering the alternative of no job, that's wonderful, Autumn!
Good luck!

Very much true. Pretty much what I've said when friends, especially the unemployed ones, have given me ->-bleeped-<- about it. But retail's about all you can hope for with the qualifications I have at the moment, and I get to wear business casual instead of a uniform, so it could be worse.
The 3 hour long executive video sure made me excited to work as... an executive. Too bad I'm not. Somehow that morale campaign thing backfired. ::)
Thanks :D

I congratulate you on getting a job since it is always easier to get your next job while you are employed!

That's what I'm hoping. Thanks :)
I don't know how I forgot to mention this. The company I joined has gender identity as a protected trait. Unfortunately they pay everyone terribly it seems.

I'm happy for you, Autumn! Your determination to press on towards your goal is great! Don't listen to those who would tear you down.
