Title: Second round, more FFS? advice & opinion please
Post by: Jay-Bird on February 28, 2013, 06:36:12 PM
Hi everyone, I wanted to get a second opinion from you all here because of your expert FFS eyes if I may. As trans people we know what to look for somewhat more than most other people and this would help me make my decision quite a bit.

I've had a bit of a self conscious down patch as of late, that and a few other things have made me consider getting a bit more FFS.
About 4 months ago I had a few things done, these are Rhinoplasty, Lip Fill, and Jaw Masseter reduction via botox. I'm very happy with what was done so far and it made a huge difference to me.
Originally I had quite a list which my surgeon during the consultation said I really don't need, these included Lip lift, Chin Angle shave and a Brow reduction. I have to say I was pretty complacent with what was done and for a while thought that would bee it, but I still see boy features when I look in the mirror, especially in my chin and and my lip area, brow I don't care so much. My friends and partner keep telling no no no I don't need anymore, but I feel some expert eyes would help me make a better decision.
I should point out I have been on HRT for a little over a year now too.
There are 3 photos one of each angle, they were taken late after work one night so there isn't a great deal of makeup left on my face just my eyes really. Tried to be as dead pan as possible.
Your opinions would be much appreciated :)

Thanks,
Jay-Bird

I'm not an expert in FFS but I think you look great. I see nothing but female. We're always the worst critics on ourselves, but honestly you look amazing. Listen to your friends and partner, they're not lying.

Jay-Bird,
Take it from me, you are drop-dead-gorgeous, don't mess it up with another procedure of any kind, it would be a huge mistake and a waste of money. You have a totally female face, neck, chin, nose and everything. Please just don't!

Thank you all for you quick responses. Don't really know what to say, wasn't expecting such positive opinions.
Sometimes I think I must be going quite mad honestly.
I don't know why I see what I do in the mirror but I really do, sometimes to the point of anxiety. Your absolutely right Joey in that we are our worst critics, I just don't really know what to do about it. I guess living in the wrong body for so long has really dented me.
Am starting to think maybe no matter what surgery I get I will always see some boy features that will always bother me, gah' I really don't know...
I wonder if that's the case for others who have had some work done.

You always see celebrities on the tv who weren't happy with their looks, get too much surgery, and end up looking worse. They were all fine before, it's just their self esteem gets the better of them. I second what Shantel said, don't mess up the good looks you have with more surgery. Trust us when we say you look great. There will always be features about ourselves that we don't like but you look great and you need to learn to see yourself that way too.

Thank you all very much for your feedback, its really given me a different perspective hearing from you.
Its not so much that I don't believe what my friends and partner tell me, but sometimes I guess its hard to know if its just niceties and politeness being offered.
I'm going to take your advice and leave my face alone, instead I am going to work on finding some calm and peace with myself and how I look.
We must really see ourselves in a very different light than the way others see us, or at least that's what I'm learning.

Thanks again :)
Jay-Bird

Hi Hon,

Ok I've had a careful look.

At the moment you look a very natural very attractive woman.  I cannot see anything 'odd'

I think if you go for more you will run the risk of going backwards and looking like a plastic surgeons test crash dummy

To be totally honest?

Forget it. You look great.

Hugs

I agree with the others. Your face is already in the definitely female range so i don´t see what would make you feel like you still had male features. The only thing i could see is a lip lift or lipofilling but i don´t think fuller lips would suit your overall face structure. Also your right eye seems to be set higher in your face, but that´s not a gender issue. (and Shannen Doherty approves)

Lip lift. But we're strictly talking vanity.

Maybe hairline a little? Does anyone else think so?

The normal female hairline is between 5 and 6cm above the eyebrows. But it's also about proportions to the rest of the face. Bangs quite easily solve a high forehead.

your forehead is flat, which is the most important feature to keep feminized. As others have said, everybody is gonna to dislike some of their features no matters how many surgeries are done but overall this woman's face is 100% convincently femenine due to as i said, the flat forehead and the female features are prevalent. Even genetic women have one or two facial features socially considered masculine. I have said in other posts that comparing your pre-pubertal features with your current ones is the best answer on what should be done.

analysis of this image- http://www.photoxels.com/average-faces-of-women-of-the-world/ (http://www.photoxels.com/average-faces-of-women-of-the-world/)
leads me to believe that the top lip in most cis women is smaller than we may see on *some* males.

I analysed your image and I believe I identified what may be bothering you.
now, I want to be clear that not many people will notice and there are many cis women who do not conform to the idea of 'perfection'.
note that many here truly believe you are beautiful and I do too.

I played with your image in photoshop and adjusted it a little. I won't post it here, that wouldn't be right. I will delete it right away as soon as I find out if you want me to send it to you or not.

It is a very common phenomenon that you see your "old self."  That is what you saw in the mirror for years - it is ingrained.  But those of us who have only seen Jay-Bird, so see any of the old you at all!

Upper lip lift and augmentation, brow bossing, hairline advancement, ear size reduction [this can be done as Ive had my ear size reduced significantly].

You look great. My only suggestion would be a lip lift. I had mine done in march. Worth every penny.
Dr. O said lip lift is one of the most feminizing procedures.  I agree.
