Susan's Place Transgender Resources

I've been posting a lot of negative stuff lately and I want to post something away from that. Since I've joined Susan's, I've noticed that there are a lot of us from lots of different places, so I kinda thought, hey, why not celebrate that?
The aim of this is to post 3 things you love about the place you live, the place you come from or your family's traditional culture. It can be more than 3, but 3 is the minimum. I'm sure we can all criticise things easily, but I want this to be a happy thread so the only rule is no negative comments! I'll kick start it.

I'm from England and the 3 things that I love are: the amount of space there is to go on walks in the countryside, the free nhs health care and the Olmypics in London last year made me very proud to be British.

Well I'm a convict from Australia!

I still think the convicts got the better deal! Ha Ha Ha Ha

Australia is such a great place to live, Farms bigger than some European country's. 

I live in the most beautiful state, being Tasmania, much like England but warmer lol.

The sites and views are outstanding, plus the purple sun sets are amazing!

Fishing is a short distance from anywhere, be it fresh water or salt water.

To go hunting for Kangaroo or Deer is only a short drive.

Water sports, what do you want to do? Water ski, sail, fish etc.

4x4 off road driving, get lost on the many bush walking tracks that are in Tasmania.

Plus so much more, how can anyone get bored in this state.

So much to do, not enough hours in a day I don't think, Gota love this place!

I'm from Canada, and I love my country!

I love how we have been a bulwark of ethnic, cultural and religious tolerance. :D

Canada also is respected around the world as a good nation and a good people!

And it's quite peaceful here. Except for crime, lol...

I love the canals of England & the history of the canals, when you reach a bridge & see grooves cut into the metal bars or stonework by the ropes you are seeing the toil of generations

I love Isambard Kingdom Brunel, he was a genius & my home town of Bristol has the S.S. Great Britain which was the first ocean going iron ship & if memory serves me correctly it was the biggest ever at the time of its construction. He was my inspiration for getting into engineering when I left school.

I love Sir Edward William Elgar, listening to his music whilst floating along a canal through the English countryside can be a moving experience.

The Spitfire, just hearing the throaty roar of that engine sends chills through me, without it we may have never won WWII

Stonehenge, it didn't really have a purpose, the druids just thought "let's pile up a load of huge stones to confuse the **** out of future generations" gotta love that sense of humor!

Native born Duck, from the great state of Oregon.  I am a short distance from the ocean, mountain or river.  And I live close enough to enjoy downtown Portlandia.  Put a duck on it.

I was born and raised in Oregon, but now I live in Washington. I love the Pacific Northwest. I have lived in many places, and this is by far my favorite. I live near Seattle, which is great. OK, three things (it's so hard to limit it)
1) The culture here is so diverse. You have people from so many walks of life living together as one giant community
2) The activities. You can walk around the city and see the sites, you could go salt water of fresh water fishing, or you can take a short drive to the mountains where your imagination is all that limits what you can do.
3) The weather. Though it may rain a lot here, it is almost never too warm or too cold. It is such a beautiful place to live. When the skies are clear, there are two mountain ranges around us so the view is spectacular!

Canada yeah! I love the whole "cultural mosaic" thing we have going on and I love the history (although bad stuff happened that shouldn't have).

I spent a month in Ottawa, and a month in Victoria. I absolutely loved it in both places. The people were great, and there was plenty to do.

I was born and raised in Southeastern Massachusetts I love the summers, The history of the Commonwealth, The beaches, and the sports revelries between the Red Sox and the Yankee's, and the Bruins and the Canadians.

America is a beautiful country. ^.^ We're one of the most diverse in the world. (If not THEE most) I know lots of foreigners like to complain about us, but come on guys, it's really not that bad. ::)

I can relate to that, we have lots of bad stuff in UK history, the key is to focus on the good stuff as something to be proud of & take the bad stuff as a warning from history (those who don't learn from history are destined to repeat it)

One example for the UK is our involvment in the slave trade, it was definately a bad thing that should not be repeated but i'm proud that the UK eventually saw the wrong that was being done & we went out of our way to abolish it in 1833, not just for the UK but for other countries as well, the royal navy went out of their way to stop the transportation of slaves

My family is from Germany. Came to the United States after WW1. Shortly after, returning to Stuttgart to help with the family owned furniture business WW2 came and they were forced to stay in country. My grandmother was an interpreter at the trials of Nuremberg and told us many stories of the war.

I grew up in Arizona along the US-Mexico border, and I'm Mexican-American myself.

If there are three things I love about where I grew up, it's:

1. I come from a small, pretty-peaceful town, don't have to worry about crime.
2. I have access to two different countries! If I want something Mexican, I can drive about 10 minutes    to go get it.
3. The language, I LOVE my native language Spanish and I get to use it on a daily basis.
