Hi Tiffany,
No such thing as a silly question. Only if you don't ask it, then it's silly.
Other option to penile inversion is sigmoid-colon, where they remove part of your rectal colon and use that for your new vagina. Problems associated with the technique are. Odour for several months, interferring with rectal colon. Longer recovery.
There maybe more definitive information in the Wiki section.
Hope everything goes well for you.
Be safe, well and happy
Lotsa huggs

Even the so-called non-penile inversion techniques use the penile skin in a number of ways. My surgery with Dr. Bowers last January used both scrotal skin and some penile skin to create the vaginal cavity. The rest of the penile skin is part of the labial structure, and Bowers even uses some of the urethral inner surface for the labia minora. Bowers, Brassard, and several of the Thai surgeons use a single surgery technique and have found uses for all but the actual testicles, and except for Suporn, some of the erectile tissue. Suporn even incorporates the erectile tissue into his work.
I am happy with the results I have gotten but then again, I do not plan on showing off my pelvic decoration for the general audience of vulva inspectors and critics.

As for surgery, I had penile inversion. I really have nothing to complain about. The recovery was smooth, I didn't have complications, and my sensation is good. The advantage for me is that I didn't have to fly anywhere, so if (heaven forbid) I need a revision, I can drive up to my doctor, who's about 2 hours from here, and have her look me over.
I'm happy to answer any specific questions you have.

Gosh, I have no idea how one can arrive at a surgeon for such an important process. I chose Brassard only because it is an hour + drive...so that was important. I knew he had a good reputation, but all surgeons do.
The one thing I've learned is everyone extolls the surgeon that did their surgery, but there is no way to measure one over another. Comes down to your comfort level, willingness to travel, $$$$, recovery and aftercare, etc

Penile inversion is basically exactly what it sounds like - they take the penis, scrape it out, flip it inside out and insert it into the body cavity where a vagina should be. The remainder of the external structures are then made largely from scrotal skin. (The exception is the clitoris, which is formed from a tine bit of the penis glans plus all the associated penile nerve bundles.) However, with that said, every surgeon has their own particular trademarks, and most don't do "pure" penile inversion anymore because it's common to add a bit of extra vaginal depth with a scrotal skin graft at the end of the penile tube where the glans was removed.
Non-penile-inversion surgeons who don't use the colon form the vagina largely from scrotal skin and use the penis to create the external labia etc., as I understand it.
I had GRS with Brassard, and you can find details and a more extensive review here : https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,182064.msg1614537.html#msg1614537

It depends in person. I live in Greece and it was hard for me to have surgery outside my country. So I did it here in Athens. Simple penile inversion, not real clitoris but can have vaginal orgasm cause he left part of erectile glans inside my vagina like g spot or something. If I could I would have gone Thailand for more realistic result. I had two lovers that did not found I was post op but it was not any serius relationship. What to say...

ditto the concept, not everyone is the same so different methods apply for different occasions. @ ifin you only got a tini weeni, you dont want it to be the sole source of depth in your new life. accordingly, a well endowed person may have a simpler procedure.
only your doctor will be able to tell you for sure.
that being said, choose the surgon carefully. ability to get back to them is a big factor in my opinion. results vary, on both surgen and after care. cost factors in, but saving an extra year often is worth the money invested.
