I've been on T for just over 4 months now and thinking about going for top surgery this December. Does anyone have any recommendations for surgeons in the Philadelphia or Baltimore areas? I'd like to select someone sooner rather than later to figure out how much money I'm going to have to scrape together for it.
My Aetna plan has a trans-exclusion on it but has anyone been able to get around that for top surgery? I'm thinking about being tested for the breast cancer gene since my dad's sister had it and I have previous history of cancer (how I was able to get my hysto covered by insurance). My 2 previous mammograms have come back clean.
My friend who is also FtM had prophylactic removal of his breasts done but didn't have any kind of reconstruction done because he didn't want the female version. Now he's regretting rushing into it without figuring out if there was a way to get male reconstructive surgery but at the time he wasn't sure he wanted it.
Any suggestions?

Dr. McGinn is in New Hope which may be near Phili?
She seems to do good work: http://www.drchristinemcginn.com/services/srs/subcutaneousmastectomy.php (http://www.drchristinemcginn.com/services/srs/subcutaneousmastectomy.php)

There's Dr. Fischer in baltimore, which is where I went. She's great but I'm not totally sure she takes insurance.
