Title: A few Qs
Post by: smile_jma on March 26, 2013, 04:49:57 AM
Is it just me, or does spiro taste like a really weak altoid? Maybe like a cert, but without the sharpness of the mint flavor.

For those who shaved body for the first time, what did you use? The electric trimmer part of a shaver or like a barber's knife?

For those with the dreaded chest hair, how did you get it so you don't look like you have patches of shaved parts/hair? someone else helped you?

Because of my screwed up hormone levels, growing up, I never got a great deal of torso hair, and almost no hair on my back at all.

What hair I had, however, was terribly dysphoric for me.  So I periodically shaved it all off with a razor.  The trimmer part of an electric shaver works well on axillary and pubic hair.

I've found hair trimmers - the haircut kind - also work well, especially on huge tracts of leghair. They don't get down to skin-level, but they just about get it to the point where you can remove it with an electric razor. Much faster. :)

I never had incredibly thick or dark body hair to begin with, so I found epilating my body hair to be the most effective over the long run. It was very painful the first time or two, but for me, quickly got to the point of barely feeling it. I figured out that using a clipper first, getting the hair down to 1/4" or less, eased the pain a fair bit, but it still took a couple of stiff shots of tequila to do some areas. Also, spreading fragrance-free antiperspirant deodorant on the epilated area (especially pubes and inner thigh areas) significantly reduces the red bumps folks like me are prone to getting after shaving or epilating.

Now, the hair that does grow back, which isn't much, is largely blonde and very fine so I barely feel the epilator now. I also drink 2 to 4 large mugs of spearmint tea most days, which has helped. Finally, estradiol has had a huge effect on my body hair, so I strongly recommend waiting to see what effect that will have versus rushing into whole body laser or electrolysis.

Hi chrishoney;
I have been on Progynova now for 4 months and my latest blood work has my T level inow n the normal genetic female range. (Under 250). How soon do you think it will be before  will see a lessening of body hair or at least the hair going more blond because right now I have to get everything waxed once a month. Unfortunately I am naturally quite hairy (Ugh!)

However I have had laser IPL on my face (and electrolysis) and Laser (IPL) on my décolletage
and this  is now starting to look good.

Thanks

Judith

I just used a regular hair cutting electric razor on my legs and for my chest just a couple of swipes with my regular razor. I don't have any back hair and sparse chest hair. Luckily, I'll only need laser on my chin, neck and upper lip. One session on the sides of my face will wipe out what little hair I have there. I couldn't grow sideburns if I tried. My ex also said my facial hair is weirdly soft and not like any other guys she had ever felt.

Yeah, spiro smells and tastes funny.

I used a hair trimmer and the Nair.  Now I just use an electric shaver.

Spiro did have a minty taste to it, when I was taking it.

The trimmer part of a man's shaver for cutting the hair down to size. After that I've used a lady's shaver.

Just like everything else with regard to hormones, so much depends on what you have when you start. I am light complected, think northern european stock. I have two colors in the summer, white and red. I sun burn very easily. As I said, I was not overly hairy to begin with, and what I had was light brown for the most part. If you are dark complected with darker brown or black hair, and more of it, you may be less satisfied with how much or how quickly the progynova diminishes your body hair. I would give it more time, up to a year even, but of course you're the one who has to live with how quickly and how much it changes.

Personally, I found shaving the least satisfactory hair removal especially on my chest, though it is certainly one of the quickest and cheapest. I found I couldn't stand the nubs stage as it began growing out. With the epilator this doesn't seem to occur, and it also seems like less grows back the longer I have been epilating. That could also be partly due to progynon depot shots weekly, which was kind of my point.

As much as I don't like my body hair, I just don't know how long I should deal with it before I know the meds will start doing work. I'd hate to have to shave every 2 days. I can hardly handle having to do my face everyday. I have a bunch of peach fuzz, too, around the areas of thicker spots of hair on my chest, so, if I get rid of the chest hair, then I think I'll look like I have a bald spot or something. In that sense, I'm quite a peachy person with areas of thicker body hair, as far as my upper body goes (minus the face). Granted, I'm not going shirtless anytime soon.

Also noticed my balance not being as good and more muscle twitching than before. Normal?

I'd get any unusual twitches and balance problems checked out.

It isn't worth the risk to ignore stuff. So just get a Dr appt and check up.

I had a long soak in the bath today, body hair has basically gone, even the fine hair on the back of my fingers and toes. Arm hair has gone, leg hair is basically gone. Chest and snail trail gone. Pubes are a bit thick though. Back has gone, ( :embarrassed:crack hair has gone too :embarrassed:). I hadn't realised it as I haven't had a chance for a long slow soak and check out the body, it was very pleasant as well. It has taken a while but Mmmm nice and smooth. I'm pleased.

The twitches happen in my hand (happened 2 days for like 5 mins couple weeks ago, hasn't come back since), and my upper lip. The lip ione feels weird. Feels like I look like i'm snarling, when really, I look normal.

A few weeks ago!

I wouldn't bother about it.
