And here's one that people who know Sarasota well expect to play a lesser role - if any - in the decision:

Stanton's transgender status.

"If Susan is not selected, it is because there's another candidate that is more qualified, " said former Sarasota City Commissioner Mary Anne Servian, who met Stanton two years ago and encouraged her to apply for the job.

Get this crap off the front page and put it where it belongs - maybe in the personals ads. Whole thing would be a lot easier to swallow if you and he/she would quit rubbing our collective noses in it. Let him/her live however, but leave us out of it.

What is this, a slow news day? Why is this CRAP still getting coverage? Why is that sicko getting media exposure for HIS problem? Get a life, report something that's actually WORTH reporting!

Is this guy the St Pete Times mascot now? It seems like I can't pick up my newspaper anymore without seeing his pictures! Seriously, find something else, something newsworthy to write about.

How can Susan be given serious consideration. Susan does not have any experience. Any resume that Susan turns in is false. She has no work experience in any field. Nobody knows how Susan will be able to perform in any job.

Enough of this freak show already!

I wonder if Susan can sue the bigot's who publicly state that she shouldn't be hired because of who she is.  Then the church people who have the gall to say she has no right to a life or a job can see what it's like when they are stripped of their ill gotten gains.

What a joke the comments section is...

I've been following the comments sections since Susan's story became news. They generally aren't as negative as the latest ones have been. And it's noteworthy that the nasty comments are usually simply juvenile name-calling, mostly from insecure men who seem to fear their heterosexuality is under suspicion.

I meant that those comments showed up under a heading of "Thoughtful comments will be displayed online within 24 hours."  That, to me, was the joke.
