"When Emily Vutech got a job in a gay bar, her friends and family had lots of questions. Ms. Vutech says she took the job to be in a vibrant environment, but she has come to believe that everyone could benefit from exploring worlds different from their own. "
Emily Vutech is a straight cis-female who worked in a gay bar as a hostess. While working there, she realized that being the straight girl was what defined her while she was there, and lots of people had questions as to why a straight girl would want to work there. When an lesbian woman told her that they needed more people like Emily to "bridge the gap", that got Emily thinking about how everyone in society needs to explore worlds different from their own to learn more about others and have more tolerance.
