Title: Who else loves to shave their legs?
Post by: FrancisAnn on April 07, 2013, 11:31:28 PM
For myself, it always feels great to have smooth legs & it's always a pleasant daily task.

I, personally, hate shaving my legs. It's an itchy, painful, uncomfortable mess, and my legs are never even perfectly smooth when I'm done - if I get, say, the chills, for example, and the hair on my legs stands up... suddenly, my legs are quite prickly! That sensation doesn't feel terribly awesome, either.

So, I'm perfectly happy to avoid it. When the weather warms up a bit, I'll probably pick something more sane - like ripping the hairs out with a sugar-based adhesive.

The things people do for vanity... Oi, humans are nuts. I suppose that's all a part of the beauty, though - and I certainly will remove that hair, one way or another. After all, my legs are two of my nicer features!

I do, I do!!

Don't need to but once every couple weeks, though (THANK YOU HORMONES!), no problem with stubble (except on two areas: the thigh/genital area, and underneath the thighs where I sit...prickly prickly if I do those areas...)

But yeah, silky smooth, very erotic!

I love the results but I don't like shaving them. I have really long legs so it is time consuming I did have to shave them daily before hrt but now I can go two days without shaving them and they are still pretty smooth so I'm happy with that. :)

Arms and legs, both.  If you have a bath it is a lot easier, as the hot water softens the hairs.

Used Duck Tape for a while.  I'm frugal (cheap), so it was kinda like a poor girls waxing.

Now it's back to shaving about once a week.  Feels good but hate it.

I'm just a woman that likes smooth legs, they feel so good/normal when smooth & it only takes a couple of minutes.
Title: Re: Who else loves to shave their legs?

Why? It's not hard & no reason to cut yourself. Use a good razor & gel. Just start from your foot & go all the way up in one motion to your knee area. It's easy & no need for any blood.

Good luck girlfriend.

Not really - eventually gets old I think. I also have insanely sensitive skin and shaving gives me lots of ingrown hairs. Waxing is best for me, although I just epilate for maintenance.

Who doesn't like smooth legs?  :P

I used to love to shave it when it was the only thing that I could do while still in the closet and living at home.

Now that I'm out and have to do it almost every day, or every second day, well it gets tiresome and it's uncomfortable because my skin is sensitive. Much better to get them waxed or epilate (if you can stand the pain) so you don't have to do it as often.

Results of hormones do you think?

Otherwise, I find shaving to be painful in terms of position etc... Now days I use an epilator, which I can do on the couch ( and vacuum after ). Bit more painful, but lasts longer and I can do it anywhere at home.

I have been hair free on my legs for many years as I cycle. Or at lest that is my excuse.
First did it as a swimmer for the national tiltles here in OZ.  I shave them once a week which is a pain in the neck but much better than having shag piles.

Last time I was at the laser clinic, the tech metioned about getting legs done so I just did it.
Hopefully that means not having to shave as much as before when it's done. Less ingrowns which is a plus.

Already much less growth. Yes it is a pain, ouch, but not that bad.

I stopped shaving my legs once I discovered epilators, years back. Shaving leaves a nasty stubbly feeling after a day or two, even with my sparse blonde growth. But I have no time to even epilate these days and go natural. No one's going to notice with this perpetual cold weather in the UK.

:D I have one single hair that grows on my back. It's a mole with a hair! One pluck (ha, got you!) and I'm done. Such simple pleasures. Shh.

Problem is, once I shave a spot, I can't ever bear to let hair grow there again. I shaved my legs once in Dec., and now I have to shave them every week since I don't ever want to see them hairy again.

I've been holding off shaving my midsection until I have to.

I've been using an electric razor on them (and on my arms, which as it's tee season are really not optional). It doesn't work that well overall. :(
Hoping an epilator works better... Do you have to let the hairs grow out before epilating them?

I TOTALLY love it!

I even liked it before I started transition... and that is one of the constants of my adult life, is I have always HATED having hairy legs. I'm so glad now that it has softened again thanks to HRT, and so happy that now I get to shave them all the time, and have smooth gorgeous legs all the time!

Every time I'm in the bath and shave them, and see their smooth increasingly-feminine shape, it makes me feel SO good inside!

I die without smooth legs, but I'm all about the epilator these days.
I used to wax (getting the back of one's own thigh is quite a feat in contortion) but it's so messy and time consuming.

I'm lucky enough to not be very hairy to begin with, plus waxing came very easy to me  :)  I was able to color my hair, wax my armpits and take a shower all in about the space of an hour with little to nearly no mess at all

Hmmmm,  :eusa_think:  Maybe I should think about getting a job at a salon

Shaving my legs/becoming a woman. I sure wish it were that easy. I've shaved my legs 1,000 times over 30-40 years & always just wished my body was a normal female. Now I'm age 60, resuiming HRT soon. My body is somewhat feminine however my face is too old. I will need a facelift for sure & other plastic surgery. Doubt I will ever become a "pretty" normal woman at my age. I sure wish I had moved forward so long ago.

I just need to bitch some, kinda stressed.

If you are young & "shave your legs" move forward, do not delay with your life as I did.

Shaving is annoying, but I can manage it. I do like the results. It feels really good to have freshly shaved legs.

I've tried waxing with some cheap wax strips from walmart but it just wasn't doing it for me.

My leg hair is dark and thick, and I'm ridiculously pale. Even after attempted tanning, I just burn and then it goes away and I'm pale again. So thick hair being shaved is a rather uncomfortable experience, and the results are mediocre at best.

I used to epilate my leg hair for better results, which was more painful. But instead of it being a daily experience, it became a biweekly experience. Now with my hectic work life I find myself with less free time, so it's back to shaving. I can't wait to get back to epilation, it's just much better. Hopefully HRT will help with that, too.

I love shaving my legs, I shave them every second day as I love the smooth silky feeling. I shave with Gel and a razor. It does not take too long. I shave my entire leg right to my crouch. Also I shave my armpits, which i think trickier than the legs as i am so scared i am gonna cut myself.

I have laser work done on my arms with my chest and face. so no shaving required... was too scared to include the pits with the work.

Wearing pantyhose on freshly shaven legs is feels amazing.

Dear A,

I do not understand why it takes so long??? just gel up & start at the ankle with long strokes up to the knee area. Knee needs to be bent some to get that area smooth. Second from knee area to the top in one long stroke. If you miss a spot or 2 no big deal, better not to have any cuts!

About time for my bath, shave, etc...

Good luck girl friend.

First reason: Because of the awful consequences (irritation, ingrowns, etc.) I rarely do it, so it's awfully long when I do it.

Second and permanent reason: Even if the above is not present, I am incredibly slow and clumsy. With everything.

I love having smooth legs.  Have to shave about every other day, use cheap hair conditioner and a good razor.  Makes my pantyhose look great.  It's really worth the 3-5 minutes it takes to do a good job.  I trim my arm hair, but shave every thing else.

Conditioner as shaving lotion sounds like a great idea though. I might try it. Shaving gel gets rinced off easily, and the annoying thing about conditioner is precisely that it's a pain to rince. Sounds perfect for shaving.

Appreciate the comments of summerbreeze above... yes it is still the male pattern.  So no sybaritic pleasures in shaving it ;)

However, i have started using a Braun epilator... OUCH the things we do for beauty.  Took a long hot bath whilst it charged up, thinking i could do everywhere, how convenient...OUUUUUCH !   Everywhere?!? ...barely got through one thigh and two underarms.  But pleased with the progress, the aftercare (i am using Nisim Kalo, which is supposed to slow down subsequent hair growth).

Then i got used to it and the ouch faded to something like Chinese water torture.

Any other experience with epilating here?   I have no idea if i'm doing it right !

I think i ought to leave the fine downy soft hair on the fronts of my lower legs, the shins, for Summer.  Here in Vermont it is common for women to do so...  think tie-dye long dresses, boots and folk music :)   Then perhaps one day i will enjoy shaving on the female pattern.

Then after next Winter i should be more advanced on HRT and either it won't matter any more, or I'll be covered in so many layers that if i have to present as male, nobody will know.

Fortunately i do not have much of it, having red hair and fair skin, little-to-no body hair is something that i have always been thankful for.

This is a VERY good point, in my opinion. Because, following my own hair removal, I was so much into it, that I changed career and was opening a beauty salon specialized on hair removal.

If you shave, it is always better to use very cheap one-way no-name razors from the drugstore, and not the expensive high-tech brands. MOST important is to have a new and fresh razor-blade which has never been used before, no matter the price, no matter the brand. As well, all shaving gel or foam or whatever is only for a placebo effect and can possibly more irritate your skin than an unused one-way razor blade which you are applying GENTLY. Be nice to your skin, it's yours.

And in my opinion, if you can find a place where you can shave your dry legs without anything else but the razor, and have a shower thereafter, that would be even better. It is only important to be gentle to our skin. Your hand, the razor and your leg, let them find some harmony.  ;)

I would have thought this crazy, but after shaving with a new blade last night I think your on to something...I was really irritated last go with a blade I've used twice previously. Last night, new blade and no cuts or irritation. So el cheapo disposables from here on in.

Ordered the Silk'n Professional IPL with 10 extra lamps, got a great deal on it (the unit, 15 total lamps, $700 CND) Will try to post about the results as I get a chance, though not sure about posting pictures as yet (I'm shy.)

As mentioned earlier has a laser treatment on my legs a few weeks back and wow what a difference!

Besides the agonising pain of laser :o, the results are very impressive with quite a bit of shedding and only small amounts of regrowth that needs shaving. I have another session with the pain monster next week so am hoping that soon I will not have to shave them as I have done for many years.

Very happy so far.
