Hey everyone! My name's Ari, short for Aristotle, I very recently came out as transgendered to my family and friends. I'm not really sure what else to talk about here, so I'm just gonna jump in! Please excuse my word vomit!
In terms of how I'm going to proceed with my transition, I've already taken huge steps in transitioning socially. Physically, I intend to eventually get top surgery, probably a keyhole procedure. I'm still not sure about hormones, but I'm doing everything I can to build muscle mass, live a healthy life, and be physically more male short of T. I do not intend to get bottom surgery, at least not as the procedures are now.
My story isn't really all that interesting, though I'm very proud of it. It made me who I am, and it's constantly evolving. I grew up in a very accepting household with a lot of strong LGBT rolemodels in my life. I've always been free to be who I am. Coming out as transgendered was not how I intended it, though. I was outed to my father by my girlfriend's mother, to whom I am living as stealth. My parents have been struggling along side me, but they try their hardest. My younger sister has been exceptional about it. I came out to her while we were cooking together. She cried, but then she calmed down and just looked at me and said, "...Ari. I like that name." She's 12 years old, and already one of the best people I've ever met.
I'm gonna go into college in the fall and I will be living full time as a male, on a male's floor in a single room. I've got a lot of questions, and am looking forward to becoming a part of the community! Thanks!

Hi Ari, and an interesting choice of name... There's an Ari in the novel I'm writing, but he's Aristaeus, so it's good to meet a different one! I'm glad people around you have been so supportive.

I got the idea (from Neil Gaiman's Sandman) that Aristaeus was the name of the satyr who caused the death of Eurydikë, wife of Orpheus. This turns out not to be canonical, but it stayed that way in my mind! The traditional mythical Aristaeus was a minor god associated with bee-keeping.
