Title: FML --for the moment-Survival mode engage!
Post by: calico on April 19, 2013, 10:38:28 AM
I feel so overwhelmed at the moment, I literaly just got back from surgery and I am losing my mind on how to manage because I cant go right back to work. there is no way I can go back at the moment, I am still far to weak, still recovering, hell I passed out last night in the kitchen. But I just dont know how to manage my bills, and survive.  :(
I got rent due on 1st it can wait till the 5th at latest
a loan payment due in a few days
electric due in a couple days
I have to pay for my health insurance some how
when I came back my bank acct was negative
I had some help from my dad and step-mom, but it was just enough to get my bank back to current good standing.
I'm trying to see if I can ebay my way out of this but I dont believe I will have enough to sell.
I am just about to panick mode...
Right now should be a happy time but .... just so overwhelmed :'(

Big hug! I've been in worse situations than this, you'll be fine! Just make a priority list, and do what you can. Hugs, Devlyn

I'm really sorry about your predicament. I hope you didn't hurt yourself when you passed out. Do you have anyone to help you out? When do you think you will be capable of getting back to work?

You need to write to your creditors now.

Send them as much documentation as you can, without revealing any confidential stuff. Names of the Drs for example.

But you need to rest or you will die.

I have spoke with those who I can, I need to call my student loan and have them hold for 1 more month, I am truly starting to understand that I need to rest, as much of my health is rapidly weakend even more so by stress and worry.

it really is my fault as I wasnt truly realistic and honest with my self when I went off for surgery, however I dont regret it what so-ever as had became a have to do event. Now I just need to survive for a little bit till I can return to work.

I am thankfull for all the support I get from this site and for those in my physical life who help to get me through this uncertain time in my life.
I have faith and refer to something once said by my grandmother, "this too shall pass"

Thank you everyone for the support and words of encouragement
:)

I would have done the same, in a flash.

But the issue is now. You need that rest and those creditors need to know that.

I really doubt they will pursue you once they understand. They are more concerned with the ones trying to get out of paying.

I assume you're not in the UK. If you were,  I'd have more suggestions.

Calico, my heart and thoughts go out to you. If anyone deserves a smooth recovery, it's you. You're such a giving soul, sharing your surgical journey with us, and it makes me sad to hear that things have become tough since you've been home.

Please accept a hug, and the very best wishes and prayers.

Call up the Red Cross or other similar agencies, tell them you're having a medical situation and need some help for just a couple weeks, until you can go back to work.

They might not be able to, but let them decide that.

Yeah, that's a good one.

The point is an advocate to approach these debtors.

Thanks again everyone from deep with-in my heart I truly apreciate the kind words, encouragement and suggestions. I think my food situation is under control, and the supplies for taking care of my self as well. My biggest concerns next to my health are my rent being number 1, my health insurance being number 2, the utilities (electric) number 3, the bank loan is number 4, all the others will have to wait, oh and phone which is number 5.
student loan will wait with no additional penalties, a appliance bill is waiting as well

Now my biggest final ordeal is just to try and take it easy and to let my body heal, which I dont think I have been doing enough of.  :-\

I am thinking about asking a couple church's here as well, see what they can do, and I'll ask the redcross as well

oh and spacial I am indeed not in the U.K. - I wish I was sometimes, I also wish I had my family closer as well, sadly I have no family were I live  :'(

I will continue to hang on. thanks again everyone and if ya-all were closer I would be giving ya-all a very tear filled hug

It's no problem.

If you have any access to churches, may I suggest you call the Salvation Army?

As for bills. I always work on a priority. Food and rent. You need high protein food and a load of vitamin C. Preferably in fruit and vegatable. No alcohol. I don't know if you smoke, but of so, cut that right down.

When buying food try to think in terms of each meal. Think about a small amount of animal protein, even milk if you don't like meat. But fish, oily fish is ideal if you like it. Tinned fish is cheap and great for a meal in the evening, on toast. Baked Beans is wonderful.

Some fruit, this could be a fruit drink, not squash though. Carrot, any green.

Never forget a good breakfast. Remember the rule, if you don't eat breakfast, the next meal is breakfast!

I don't know your habits but these are what I will suggest.

Next come the others. Important, but generally more willing to wait.

But asking a religious group, even a church which you like, excellent.

yea rent/electric/ food and my health are top priorities, I think I may of gotten sick because of something I recently ate, I got to be very careful with what I eat curently because what I have observed iis since I have had the surgery my body seems to much more vulnerable too my alergies even ones that I had some tollerance for.   :( which is a real bummer because that means I have to cut out a huge amount of things I like to eat.. :( so I am trying to find alternatives, like I am alergic to milk, so I am going to use soy instead..
fruit is a wonderfull idea and I plan on getting some today.

Things do to have seemed to lighten up a lil bit however, a real close male friend of mine came over and stayed with me till 3 am something- and basicly got me very relaxed.   :)

I think I am going to end up going to my moms, though for a couple weeks so that will make things a lil easier as well and also being away from home will keep me from doing anything that may put my health at risk.

Calico,
In the past when I got in a bind I talked my employer into allowing me to cash in my vacation time, it may be good for a few weeks paycheck. There are a lot of service organizations that can help you with a rent and electric payment, you'll have to do some digging, contact your state welfare department and ask them to send you a sheet on what is available. Other than that we'll hope that Devlyn scores a big jackpot so she can play early Santa Clause. C'mon Dev, we're counting on you now!

Calico, try and relax and get well honey!

Recovery from SRS sucks. Period. How you will feed yourself, pay bills, and and keep some money in your pocket is one thing you don't read about in your surgeons after care instructions. It can be tough. I stashed away as much as I could pre-surgery. But let me tell you, it goes quick.

Eat-dilate-try to exercise-sleep... Has been my schedule for the last 7 weeks. I haven't been able to go out with friends, go shopping, or even go to the movies with my BF... Let alone have sex with him yet... Which I know he is dying for. So yeah... Fun times!

Hope everything works out for you.   :)

Still worth it though.

However bad you feel right now, just remember what you've just achieved.

The rest of your life.   :eusa_dance:

Sorry love, however bad it may seem right now, what you have to come, seems to me to make almost anything worth while.

It was definately worth it, it was worth it at any cost to me. the pain is only temporary and honestly the only real anoyance and inconvenince is the dilation routine, but it is a  neccesary evil that I will endure.
everything else is just stress which it seems I am more sensitive to now :-\ but I will endure this as well, of course its made it so much easier with the supoort and warm wish's from my family here  ;)

well I'm not near my dr so..... :-\ I mean nothing seems wrong, in fact I went up a size on the dilator last night, the stitch material was also very brittle as I easily broke it(outside the body) so I think it was already breaking down. I dont think its an issue but I am going to email dr.c

Geez, I hope it turns out OK. :(

Yet another thing to watch out for, I guess. As if you needed any more.

Are you near anyone who could, say, stop by with vittles?

I had that happened to me. Stitches all bunched up came out with the dilator  :o I still keep it as a reminder of what I've gone through to become a complete woman lol.
