I've been on T. for quite a while-- three years. but i hate this smell sometimes i get a fish smell down there. it could be a yeast infection. but either way I hate it. I just want the smell to go away. I tried vagina body wash.. or whatever it is and baby powder still won't go away. kinda scares me. I could be border-line diabetic and i know that is one of the causes of yeast infection

NUMBER ONE RULE of vaginas - don't ever use perfume around them. Ever. That includes scented soaps. It's frustrating to have to deal with one when you shouldn't have one, but the fact is that the vast majority of vaginas out there are super sensitive and their owners don't even know it. Throw out the perfumed 'lady soap' and buy something organic, non-perfumed, preferably soap-free. The detergent agent in soap-free products is usually coconut so if you're allergic to that avoid it. Soap-free is best for between the legs because it's non-drying and therefore non-irritating. It won't strip the oils out of your skin like regular soap.
Next, buy two over the counter yeast treatment kits and use them back to back. Name brand is best but a pharmacist may be able to tell if a generic has good results.
If that doesn't work get checked for an STD. Years ago I got trichinosis from an ex and I had a very fishy smell that wouldn't go away. I got tested, took the medication to treat it, and tada. Smell went away. It's very easy to get an STD and they can lurk for years. The affects of them can come and go. Most of them are treatable and county health clinics will often do testing/treatment for free or dirt cheap.

I know the idea of having a gyno down there is terrible but if you're pre hysto you should really see one. A persistent bad smell down there could be a sign that something is not right. Of course, it could just be your body chemistry BUT it is always better to be safe than sorry.
Did your smells change with T? I ask because my "stuff" doesn't smell typically female anymore. It's a light musty man scent. If your scent did change and then reverted back and smells bad then I would be extra concerned. Go to a doctor or clinic and get checked.
Seriously? He doesn't even know if it is a yeast infection but he should buy TWO kits and use them back to back? That sounds a wee bit overkill and could cause even more problems. ???

My piping has always been overly sensitive. I think I also have vaginismus, but I haven't checked yet.
This means no tampons for me, and I already withdrew from the offer of Birth Control since that has a tendency to make people look more feminine and makes breasts bigger/more sensitive.
The only thing I don't have, at least not yet, are yeast infections. Yikes, I can't even imagine... I'm really scared that I'll get one. It might bring my confidence down again. :-\

Fish smell is not a good smell. Eat some yogurt with acidophilus and see a doctor. It could be nothing, it could be something. Planned Parenthood has a track history of being kind towards LGBT people, so if you feel like going that route, it could be a good option.

Not good. I have to say I have been really dealing with various downstairs type infections. They are not all fungal and there can be bacterial and so on. I hate to say you really need to go to a doctor, but you can try the stuff that's over the counter and see if it works.
There is a different smell that guys have. But fish doesn't really sound like it.

It isn't always easy to treat. But there is no reason to assume it won't be. Be sure to take a LOT of probiotics and/or eat yogurt while taking the antibiotics. But yeah fish smell is associated with bacterial infection.

Yep. Two of them. Used back to back. Extending the treatment is not harmful unless it's done multiple times a month. A 14 day dosage of yeast killer isn't going to harm anyone. I know this because several gyno's have told me so. They could be wrong, but none of them were related and all of them told me this on their own. I only brought up the fact that others had said the same when I heard it come out of their mouths.

I agree with the others who mentioned a bacterial infection... Fish odors are usually the most alarming symptom of bacterial vaginosis. A lot of times with bacterial vaginosis the smell can even disappear but then return. Over the counter yeast infections will not cure it if it is indeed bacterial vaginosis, the typical antibiotic used to treat it is called Flagyl. In my first year on T I had a reoccurring issue with this and it was explained to me that it is with the hormonal shift the Ph downstairs changed and it threw off the normal balanceof natural occurring bacteria which allows some of the bacteria to reach unhealthy levels. Yeast infections are not a result of bacteria and are treated with anti fungal medications which is why they won't work for bacterial vaginosis.
It's very possible to talk to your primary care doctor and tell him the symptoms and tell ask them for a script for flagyl without having to have the exam. The odor and other symptoms should fade within 2-3 days but be sure to take all of it. The good news is that of the guys on T I've known that had issues with this (including myself)after starting T it usually resolved fully within the first year and was no longer a reoccurring issue.

Regardless if that is what you were told I would still advise against it. He doesn't know what it is and treating something by blindly throwing chemicals at it probably isn't the best way to go about it.
I have had one yeast infection in my life when I was a teen and there was zero smell and no discharge. I just knew it was there because my crotch itched to the point where I scratched it raw. Everyone has different symptoms and the best advice is to see a qualified professional about it.
