Title: why is dilation at night more painful
Post by: milktea on June 02, 2013, 06:55:37 AM
anyone has the same experience? i mean not so much as pain during dilation but after the session is over...my surgeon can't think of any reason and i get serious temptation to avoid my nighttime sessions!

Hey there, I have a thought on this.... During the night, you're relaxed and horizontal, ie all your internal stuff is kind of spread out, so it is easier to dilate in the morning.... All day long, you're upright, kind of compressing things downward maybe, and muscles are tighter, so that might explain it a bit. :)

Don't stop your nightly session if your surgeon requires it.

It is common for pain to become more intense at night.  I'm not sure why, but I've had other injuries and they always seem to be that way in the evening.  Maybe it's caused by the body just being tired and the pain breaks through more.

Part of the effect of multiple dilations per day is to reduce swelling.  By stopping your evening session your swelling will increase and you will find your morning session more painful as a result.

I've skipped a few evening sessions and found this to be true.

Never noticed that. It feels the same at all times for me.

Yeah I have not noticed this either but I'm guess also it's a muscle thing?

Same for me. No difference day or night.

My problem at night is simply that I doze off every now and then, and the dilator pops out on its own and gooses me in the wrong entry way, which wakes me up for sure.  Over all nightly fatique of the sort that tells us its beddy bye time is most likely the culprit.  I have a friend whose day end is at 6AM, and when she does her bedtime dilation, its a big fat nuisance and does hurt a bit more then.

I think its because your body would be more tired.

I know with me, in the first few months, at the end of a busy day it would hurt like a bitch.
