Tomorrow I finally have the opportunity to file the paperwork to start the process of Legally changing my name. I can't wait.
My question is, How long does it take for the courts to Okay a name change?

The only thing that took time for me was the weeks of newspaper notices. the rest was over in a flash.

Here in WA, I filed, got a court date 4 days later (it was a Friday I filed, so the court date was really just 2 days out)...that day I went and sat in the courtroom...turns out I was the last one on the docket, so after hearing the other cases (most of which were interesting) I stood before the judge, got sworn in, and about 8 minutes later he signed the papers and said for me to go to the clerk's office, and they would make me copies of the order.
All told, I was in and out in under an hour...and the last time I smiled so much was the day I got my Rx for HRT!

Glad to hear that the wait is not long but because I am disabled I may not be able to rent a van to get me there for my court date. Do you have to be there in person?

Yes you do, for a whole 10 minutes of talking to the judge.

Is there a bus service in your area? Or perhaps medicaid transportation?
