"California lawmakers approved a bill Wednesday that would require public K-12 schools to let transgender students choose which restrooms they use and which school teams they join based on their gender identity instead of their chromosomes."
"At least two others state, Massachusetts and Connecticut, have statewide policies granting the same protections, but neither policy is in statute, according to the Gay-Straight Alliance Network."

Found this yesterday night, and I literally cried tears of joy.
Now if only more stays will catch on to this! However, it still won't stop bullying in bathrooms.... :/

Now I kind of wish I was going to public school -.-
Going to be interesting if there are transgender people in the public schools around here, since like.. yeah, my youth group would probably be talking about it.

Actually, IMO, this is amazing. The bathroom stuff is great enough, but really, letting transgirls use girls' restrooms is no big deal for anyone. I've gone into hundreds of ladies' rooms and have yet to actually see anything that someone wouldn't want me to see.
Locker rooms are a totally different story. Students get mostly or totally undressed, and stuff is out there for the seeing.
Personally, as fascinated as I was in high school with anything female, if I had transitioned at that age and been allowed to use the girls' locker, there is NO WAY I could have stopped myself from stealing a glance at whatever I could whenever I could.

In high school, regardless of mental state-i had major anxiety *social* and most of the time, hide away from everyone else.i waited till i got home to do anything and rarely even ever entered the locker room.I was what i call a *loner* in school and most of my life *though i never understood why at the time* Im very happy to hear about the bathroom bill though.Thumbs up!

Well Suzi you can pretty much bet that there are already girls "checking out" the other girls way before TG girls are allowed in the locker rooms ;)
I so feel like I grew up in the wrong era :( I'm very very happy for what social advances there are to benefit our young sisters and brothers now!
