Title: Need Help...
Post by: Carley Anne D on July 15, 2013, 09:38:34 PM
Hey guys, so my girlfriend and I are going to the mall tomorrow, and it's the first time she'll see me en femme... so first of all, how should I do my makeup, and second of all, I was going to buy a bra from victoria's secret, would this be awkward? Because I can wait until I go by myself... Thanks for all your help in advance ladies!  ;)

No advice on make-up, as I'm not particularly skilled with it (though I think less is better)... but I've always felt quite comfortable shopping in Victoria's Secret - that's what it's there for.  :)

Well, i'm not to nervous about going in and buying stuff, I'm just worried it would be weird for her  :P

Makeup - well to each their own; but if I'm going to the mall to shop, I'd agree with Sara, less is more.  If it's dinner or something I'll go heavier; but at least around here very few women are "dolled" up to go shopping - at least ones my age. :)

As far as the shopping that was hard for me at first because I worried about how my wife or best friend would feel about something like that.  It turns out that I was the only one worried about it, they weren't.  I think I'd simply ask if she was okay with it and if so then have a good time; if not then perhaps another time she would be or perhaps she can hit another shop while you take care of it.

Just my two cents.

Maybe ask her if she'd be comfortable going in there? Some are, some aren't...

Makeup = less is more is good advice (and coming from me! I wear purple eyeshadow at work! The rest of my face is pretty subdued, but done well enough that I've had several compliments on my "perfect skin"... ;) )

For makeup, just go with some light eye makeup: eyeliner and maybe a beige eyeshadow plus a pale lipstick in pink. Apply blush as needed. But be light with it i.e. not dramatic. As for being awkward, well she is going isn't she? So she is prepared. But you won't know until you try. Plenty of things that you think will be awkward turn out totally fun and vice versa IME.

Thanks for the help everyone, I think I'm going to wear very light eyeliner and a nude lipgloss  ;) and I'll ask her if she's comfortable going to victoria's secret with me.

Very little make up at all.
Hair relaxed, wash it, dry it, thats it, tie it back if you have to.

clothing, relaxed look & feel, jeans or skirt, tank top, maybe another one over the top, footwear; flats or thongs (they're called thongs in the country they were invented, there for thongs and not "flip-flops").

over dressing will freak her out and you will get looks. dressing like you're relaxed, just there for the day and its not a big deal, people won't even notice you.

Just ask the sales woman at the stores to measure you..
They will gladly do it. They don't care ...I've had fun getting measured before

Measure before if you don't know your size- under the arms and around for band size.  Talk with her beforehand.  My girlie shops with me at VS - it's never a problem and she doesn't feel weird about it.
