Title: T perscription problems
Post by: mowdan6 on August 02, 2013, 05:23:40 PM
Wondering if anyone else is having problems getting the generic injectable T?  I use a pharmacy at a big name hospital, and for the past 4 months, they have been unable to get the generic T.  Been having to pay out of pocket for the brand name injectable because my insurance only covers the generic.  And this month when I refilled my script, I even had to wait for them to order the brand name T and they couldn't assure me they could get it.  this is getting scary.  Yes, I did get the refill today, and I keep worrying about the next month.  Is there a shortage or something?

Do a search around your area for a compounding pharmacy. We have used them in the states for my E and my husbands T. It was cheaper from them then what we had to pay in co-pay.

You should be able to get a generic from a CVS, or any other regular pharmacy. If you can, Strohecker's has a pretty good situation, and that's where most people have had success in getting T for less.

The pharmacy at the hospital (I see my Endo at the local hospital) is like that. If I remember correctly a 10mL vial was close to $200 out of there. Everything at the hospital is expensive. Just get it elsewhere. Call around and get quotes. Cheapest I've found is Costco. $65.50 for a 10mL vial of Watson brand Cypionate in Cottonseed oil there. Walmart is almost twice that price, so it pays to shop around.

^^^this.

I started at Walmart (because it was where I got prescriptions in the past) and had the same issue you're having (although the one time they could only get name brand they worked it out with my insurance and I still only had my generic co-pay), but then I switched to CVS and I've had NO problems.  I lucked out with the Pharmacy and the 2 people that are there 99% of the times that I go are SUPER friendly and always help me out getting what I need.
