For the past 3 years, ever since I was switched from EE to Progynova, I've had tremendous hot flashes. Especially in during the summer months it gets bad. When it's hot I'll have one every 30 minutes around the clock. I'm having great trouble sleeping at night because of it. Putting on make-up without airing out and cooling of the bathroom first is next to impossible because I'm guaranteed to break out in huge sweats. It happens everywhere and at all times, and it's a huge nuisance (makes hair wet with sweat, clothes sticky, make me feel like I'm suffocating).

Anyone else have this problem or have any bright ideas how to deal with this?

I had trouble when i was switched from Sprio to Androcur for about 3 months then off and on at night but not regular like it was for 3 months everyday. Now again after 2 months GCS having them again. For me it seems when my T level gets driven down super fast makes the hot flashes peak. Not sure why so i will see here in a few months if it settles down. On your question if you feel it is more a trouble maybe you need to switch back to EE?

Perhaps I should switch back, except I can't because my doctor won't allow it. Two years ago, when I was no longer a patient at the national GIC, it took me more then 4 months just to get my regular doctor to renew my prescription. He knew I had been on hrt for 8 years already but he felt it wasn't his area of expertise so he flat out refused to prescribe. I had to contact the endo at the GIC and have him write a letter with instructions, which took them months to do. The entire time I had to fight tooth and nail to get my new prescription. Getting my doctor to prescribe EE or up my dose is impossible. Regular doctors can't even prescribe EE as it is not regarded as a regular drug. It has to be specially ordered and one needs a special permit to get them. There's only one GIC in my country and they are the only ones allowed to prescribe hrt to transgender people.

Hmmm! maybe being you are already on some kind of HRT that the over the counter type hot flash meds might help? But again are they avaliable in your country?

Lots of luck and sad that a doctor would allow a paitent to suffer.

I suspect I had hot flashes attack yesterday. It really sucked and lasted for about an hour - I was totally down :(. I felt my pressure rising, getting nausea and having zero energy. I blame the hot weather - it was over 30 degrees Celsium yesterday - and probably I should take a pause on adding Progesterone to my HRT regimen.

No, I live in Norway.

I had a lot of hot flashes until I finally underwent SRS. Started about 2 years after I began HRT. I don't know why, also my endocrinologist who is quite well-known in the field didn't found another explanation than: Testosterone deprivation. Guess it's true.  :-\

It is a lot better now but occasionally I have to use antiperspirant when the weather gets really warm (>25°C).

Funny, mine didn't start until after I had SRS. First time they started right after I came out of the hospital and lasted till I got back on hrt. I'm pretty sure the problem stems from the missing T and the low dose of E I'm on at the moment.

I got my first hot flash around April of this year, it was an interesting feelings. Since then that has been the only one I had. Prior to hormones I never had any hot flashes.

I had hot flashes the first two weeks of my transition. NOT fun! XD Actually, it was rather funny, as my girl friends laughed at me.

I am sooo glad that I don't have to deal with that anymore! But still, I hope that if I ever get hot flashes again, I will be forty. :D

All i am going to say is Lower production of the male hormone testosterone (androgen) could lead to male menopause symptoms. but being i am female its just menopause.

As you probably know. hot flashes are caused by not enough estrogen and very low T. how much blocker were you taking . HRT prevents this post op.

I don't know why but I occasionally experience hot flashes as well. I am not on estrogen and I naturally have very low next to nothing T, but I also have hypothyroidism. Perhaps it's a mix of that the weather and stress. In any case they are not pleasant.
