Hi all, new to this site so i hope i dont make a fool of myself..
A couples of questions if i may. Ive just started on hormones last month, with low dosage of spiro , provera and estrogen.
Im using birth control pills (triquilar) as a source of my estrogen. is this in any way effective for providing estrogen? would there be any online reference site i could use? are birth control pills not good?
I havent seen a lot of effect apart from my nipples being very sensitive when im in the shower :)
thanks :)

Hello Nestan. We have a lot of topics here that answer your questions.
A couple of things you should know are that, because of our Rule #8, we don't post HRT dosages here. And I hope that you are taking HRT through a physician.
Here is Rule #8:
8. The discussion of hormone replacement therapy(HRT) and it's medications are permitted, with the following limitations:
A. You may not advocate for or against a specific medication or combinations of medication for personal gain. This is strictly prohibited.
B. You may not discuss the means to acquire HRT medications without a prescription. The discussion of self medication without a doctors supervision is prohibited.
C. The discussion of recommended or actual dosages is strongly discouraged to prevent information obtained on this site from being used to self medicate.
We can not in good conscience condone the self administering of these medications. Not only may self medication be illegal, but HRT medications can cause serious health problems, and many have the potential for life-threatening side effects that can only be detected and prevented with proper medical supervision.

I had to look up "Triquilar." I was not familiar with it. One active ingredient is ethinyl estradiol. It is derived from 17-beta estradiol (E2), which is the active ingredient in bioidentical HRT. Ethinyl estradiol is an antiquated form of estrogen and has been associated with a serious side effect - deep vein thrombosis.
Probably not the best thing for you.
"There is no single hormone called estrogen, instead estrogens are a large group of chemicals, three of them occurring naturally in humans. Estradiol (in shorthand, E2) comes from the ovaries and is the principal natural estrogen of young women. It fuels in conjunction with progesterone the development of the female sexual characteristics, such as breasts, body shape and fat distribution and stimulates growth of the uterine lining. When given by mouth estrogen passes through the liver and much of it is converted to another estrogen called estrone (in shorthand, E1). Finally estriol (shorthand E3) is a weak estrogen important during pregnancy. Plants produce weak phytoestrogens with generally defeminizing influences that have no role to play in the feminization of transsexuals. Plants like the wild yam do not produces significant feminizing estrogens, although they do produce plant hormones capable of being converted synthetically into estrogens and progestins. The estrogen of birth control pills is called ethinyl estradiol and this chemical does not cross the blood brain barrier into the brain. At the high doses used in transsexuals, ethinyl estradiol is dangerous as a clotting promoter and should be vigorously avoided."

Welcome to Susan's
I know the desire to get started with HRT. The people here are looking out for your best interest from experience. Are you in therapy?

BC pills do not have enough EE to feminize. At all.
