I'm new here so please to meet everybody. I'm mtf. I live in South Africa I have been living as myself as female for the past 24 years I fully integrate and pass easy . In my country it was pretty impossible to change gender without surgery and hence I never obtained my identity book (social security number ) as of recent It is possible to amment my gender but it takes up to to a year to be noted , My question to you is How do I bridge the topic with an Employer of me being Male on my Identity card versus me looking like I do and being called by my assumed name for the past 24 years. No one knows my secret except my immediate family .
I have been working off the grid for myself since I graduated college but Its not paying enough and especially if I still need to make surgery costs I need to find gainful employment that pays better. I'm grateful for any help and direction thank you Mash

Hi Mash, :)
I feel the best way to approach situations like this is to use technical terms and medical terminology.
If the person can recognise that you are talking about a medical condition, they are likely to be understanding and not pry to much.

Welcome to Susan's Place.
Perhaps starting the paperwork now and expressing to your future employer's HR person during the interview you are in the process of changing your identity papers to reflect your true gender is an option.
