Title: how wide is wide for a chest

My measuring tape underbust reads 39inches. Is this a wide chest for breasts? A 38 band size fits me, but i thought i had to add to that when buying a bra. I see other people reporting "band sizes" and i'm not sure if this includes the added inches or not. I have no idea if i have a big chest or not!
