Title: Ring around Iris
Post by: AMDERS on August 17, 2013, 08:34:09 AM
I recently started HRT and noticed just yesterday that I have a very pronounced grey-ish ring around my Iris. I know this is normal, but I've never noticed it before. I was looking in the mirror and saw it. I could swear it wasn't there a few months ago. Have any of you girls noticed your limbal ring getting darker on HRT. It looks beautiful but at first I was worried that it was a health problem, ie. juvinile arcus senilus. Thanks!

I also have a grey ring around the eye and was told it was a normal during a routine eye exam.  He said it comes from cholestrol but doesn't mean one has high cholestrol.  I am older and it seemed to be noticeable after 50 and I'm not on hormones yet.

I'm sure it's not arcus senilus but the limbal ring. I heard about ocular changes on HRT, so could this be one of them? Here is what I'm talking about https://www.google.com/search?q=limbal+ring&client=ms-android-att-us&source=android-browser&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=FaAPUtyQB-TP2AXokoGgBQ&ved=0CAgQ_AUoAA&biw=360&bih=567#biv=i%7C30%3Bd%7Caakfh7k0MSr_MM%3A

Well if they are gray then at least they aren't kayser fleischer rings.

That ring is apparently one of the markers of beauty that attracts people whether they realize it or not. I read a bit about it a while ago because I have pretty bold rings in my eyes (mine are very dark blue, around very light blue irises.) If they get more pronounced on HRT I'll be in heaven! I love them! :D
