Well the kids came home from there moms tonight and I get the chance to talk to them..my baby girl (9) has seen my toes painted and some other things but big brother (13) has not seen anything. I told baby girl first and I received a strange look then got a hug. I told big brother and he told me I was weird. I told him I wasnt weird but portraying who I have been hiding from my whole life. I showed him a pic (my profile pic) and he said who's that, your girlfriend!! I guess I pass more than I thought I do...lol... He said he loves me even though im weird. I stressed to them both, I will love them just as much as a woman as I do right now as a father. I guess it went pretty good. At last it's out in the open here making it a little easier to move around the housr without hiding anything.

Congratulations. It sounds like things went pretty positively. You're daughter's reaction is cute and your son doesn't sound far off from acceptance.

Congrats!
Just be aware that since they are young, they may change their minds about things...and depending if they're comfortable telling you, they may come to resent things. Keep communications open and their trust alive! (And don't let mama sabotage it!)

Thanks to both of you ladies. .we always communicate with each other..we always sit down for dinner and talk about our day, our ups and downs. I got a pinky swear sealed with a kiss from baby girl:) and a hug from him so I pray things go forward with both of them...I still find it humorous that neither one of them recognized me in that pic!!

I haven't come out to my son yet, but I laid some groundwork earlier in the summer. When I asked him (he's seven) how he'd feel if one of his parents transitioned, he responded that he'd have to "ask them to tell him who they were in case he didn't recognize them." I thought it was cute because it was absurd. Now I'm not so sure. :P

Give him time and keep throwing little hints around for him to pick up on. Kids are smarter than we think they are. If you slowly introduce him to who you really are and let him see it in stages I think he will do just fine. Neither of my kids had seen me dressed as a woman and I didn't realize my looks changed so much that my own kids didn't recognize me. Kinda makes me feel good kniwing oeople wont really recognize me either unless they look real hard!

Congrats!
Since I have never had children, I can't imagine what that is like. That must have took some courage.

It was hard especially to tell my son since he has always looked up to me. Being open and honest with my children is what I have always done and will continue to do as we transition together.

I have a 14 year old son myself. I'm still in the early stages, so I haven't said anything to him, or to his mother (we are no longer together and haven't been since he's been a small child). Definitely my biggest "coming out" hurdle. I have three other kids, all 20+. Not sure how they'll react, but they've already told me I act like a girl sometimes (at least my two girls do) so maybe it won't be that big of a surprise.
