Title: Slender Gal - HRT and Weight
Post by: AlannaMichelle on August 27, 2013, 10:06:15 AM
I'm sure this has been asked before, but the threads that I found were a bit old, so I decided to post a new topic, instead of necro'ing a dead thread.

I've struggled with Anorexia since high school. I've come a very far way through self-recovery. I generally eat freely now, though I do still count calories. My mate says I'm a bit too harsh about my body image as well. HRT has been a journey of a short month so far. (Started in July - the 23rd.) My desire to be thin does not mesh with my desire to have curves and be soft and womanly. Although I don't really actively restrict food intake, I could probably eat more, or eat more foods that will cause a more steady weight.

I am 5"7' , 125 pounds. I feel like that's an okay weight, but I worry about development as well. I want to feminize correctly, and I want proper breast development. Proper hips and thighs for a lady would be great as well. (If it helps, I'm 25 years old.)

So, my question is: Will I develop correctly at this weight? Will I feminize well? Or, should I try to gain another good 10 pounds or so?

Please help! I'm at work now, but I can post a picture in a few hoours if it will help.

Alanna, I'd say that's a question for a doctor.

I too struggled with anorexia, actually when I was around your age. I find the only way I can avoid obsessing about my weight is to eat a healthy amount of food that doesn't make me hungry, and then let my weight take care of itself. If you're hungry a lot of the time, you're probably eating too little. Otherwise, just listen to your body.

Not sure if it helps. I'm sorta sitting and such.

That's about my stature right now. I've been described as skinny, but... Meh, I can't judge myself, or I do so rather harshly.

Suzi,

Thank you for your kind words! I really do appreciate them, and I will be bringing this up to my doctor the next appointment I have. This is just some conversation information that I'd like to put myself to ease on before then, if at all possible.

Glitterfly,

Thank's for the advice! I do take a multivitamin. (A one a day for women, in fact. I've always taken this. XD) I also supplement a bit of extra calcium and a bit of biotin. Otherwise, I eat a semi-vegetarian diet, so I do my best. Sometimes we all have our days, but... I'd say I struggle with food, but it's more an obsession than anything. I obsess about the calories down to the very digit. That said, I've done really well the last couple of years! The fight has become more of a dull annoyance.

Hey AlannaMichelle!

QuoteMy desire to be thin does not mesh with my desire to have curves and be soft and womanly. Although I don't really actively restrict food intake, I could probably eat more, or eat more foods that will cause a more steady weight.

Haha! Me too! I've always wanted hips and more of an hourglass figure, but I too also hate the idea of putting on ANY fat. I don't even like putting on muscle. I like being as slight and tiny as possible for some baffling reason. Its taken my slooooow brain a good few years to fully appreciate that curves on women ARE actually provided by fat. So if I want that figure I'd actually have to become "fatter", and that idea seems bizarre. Especially as I have a washboard stomach. Its interesting having incompatible parts of your personality. Good old mental paradox.

I've also been wondering about the HRT issue, so good for asking the question. Personally, I've only ever felt comfortable wearing A-B cup bras so I'd probably hate anything bigger than that. I wouldn't like a highly pronounced figure either, just the right shape. Ahh ,the chaos that mental paradoxes cause, and how the human body will do what its programmed to do regardless of what you want or feel you should have.

How is the HRT going for you so far?

:-)

There are good fats and bad fats.  Good fats (Omega-3s) are important for your overall health, and can be found in fish and nuts (or as supplements).  Bad fats are the ones found in deep fryers, bacon grease, ground beef, these are the ones that are generally poor for your health and lead to atherosclerosis (blockages in arteries).  If you want to have some curves, you are going to need to take in some fats.
Anorexia is not a healthy way to live.  Sure you won't be putting on weight, but that doesn't necessarily equate to being healthy.  Having an overall balanced diet includes those good fats, protein (proteins are another essential component of a healthy diet), and plenty of fruits and veggies; as well as getting some exercise.  On top of that I generally also take a multivitamin and Omega-3 supplement.

It's probably best to start HRT skinny and try to gain weight while your estrogen levels are high so the fat goes to the right places. I didn't start noticing any fat redistribution till about 8-9 months in.

I am developing well and I started at 5'6" at 117 Ib  so dont worry just dont diet or starve yourself of fat you need some for your breasts. btw 3 years hrt and i still get fat put to my stomach first so well haha no way to really know what your body will do with fat.

I second what Maid said!

I was caught in placebo-land at first but I've noticed the biggest changes now at around the 8-9 month mark (the past month).

My weight has been yo-yoing ever since I started HRT. I started at 5' 8" @ 140, dropped to 125 after 3 months, went up to 145 at 6 months, and now I'm leveling out at 135 which feels totally ideal to me. I think the yo-yoing did have some effect on my weight distribution, too. Most recently after losing about 10lbs I am left with a very obviously feminine shape! (to me at least)

Being a 13 year old trapped in an older mans body i am greatful to have no weight gain issues I am 5/5 at 130lbs  37 31 38, I do hope to see development in the right places as time goes by at least my head is screwed on right now so it pionts the way my soul goes. Maybe soon my body will start to follow.. the main deal for me is that I am happy with where I am going and where I am now, with not even 2 months on hrt yet I feel that I am changing slowly physically compared to the emotional changes but very pleased to be changing at last. I am learning patience for sure and hold cource regardless

find your peace

Interesting points :-)

I didn't really have any fat distribution to speak of until recently (29 years of age), my stomach was super flat but toned. Suddenly I've gained the "man" fat and muscle on my lower abdomen. Bloody gutted as I kind of had an hourglass figure beforehand. Now my body is like every other male - bulky in the places it looks worst. Anywho, we shall have to see. Good luck to everyone else :-)

If you have continue to calorie-restrict your diet, you will probably end up with sub-optimal results from HRT.. The majority of a woman's curves are fat.. Breasts are largely fat..

I'm 5'7 and weigh 140lbs and could probably stand to gain another 5 or so - but only in particular areas..

current 37-28-39 . hrt is going amazingly well. It's kind of shocking at how fast the changes have occurred. I've been on hrt for about a year and a half. Full A cup, still growing though. I'm hoping for a b cup! I'm 5'10 and weigh about 140lbs. Before I started hrt I weighed 120, was very skinny. So gaining 20lbs in this time frame was awesome! i dont think a lil more weight wouldnt hurt. It still is sort of tough to gain weight. My metabolism is still kinda fast but nearly as much as before. My fat either goes to my breasts or hips so far. I eat a lot of food, it helps XD

Also I adore my curves!  ;D
