Title: Bad HRT reaction, probably paranoia ?
Post by: OrchidBliss on September 03, 2013, 07:47:59 PM
The weekend before last I noticed my left lower leg in general feeling achy. I'd been on transdermal E and spiro, both low-dose for about 5 weeks.

By Monday I could tell the pain was in my calf muscle with a little in a my ankle. No redness or swelling, but I freaked. Called my endo and he got me in that day. He kinda shrugged, basically said "always better safe than sorry", but went on to say he couldn't imagine blood clots being a source given my lab work just 5 week prior looked fined enough for oral, plus I went ahead and went the patch route. He pulled some blood and had me take the patch off until the results came in.

He got back to me today and said everything looked fine and I was safe to put another patch on.

Problem is....my left calf and ankle still mildly hurt. I didn't do anything to hurt my leg nor have I engaged in any heavy physical activity to get it sore. The fact this started shortly after a month of starting hrt has me nervous despite my doc saying "it's unrelated, coincidence"

Anyone else ever have this or am I freaking over nothing ?

My lower left leg was sore and achy for a brief while also (about 2 months ago). Only about a week, iirc.

I was a bit concerned, I think I even made a thread asking about symptoms of DVT etc. My endo was ok with it (they check for DVT signs in the blood, again iirc it's a specific liver enzyme that indicates it).

Just watch it for a bit, don't fret. Worry is known to cause its own medical problems.

I've heard that if you elevate your legs for 10-15 minutes prior to going to bed it helps alleviate discomfort and/or reduce the chance of DVT. Not much more than 15 mins, though. Can't remember for sure why, but still.

Otherwise, just relax. You're doing fine as per your endo.
