Title: I hate my adam's apple
Post by: WFane on September 06, 2013, 01:50:49 PM
I want my adam's apple GONE. It showed up when i turned 14, and it was pointy... wtf pointy!? Maybe it'll fill out as I get older...
14 years later, its still as pointed as the day that it showed up. And now that i'm trans, its just all the more prominant annoying. I feel like I could hang a coat on it!

Just... rawr.

Sorry, needed to rant.

It's one of the secondary sex characteristics that some of us have to deal with.  It's not that ciswomen lack them, some have very pronounced Adam's Apples.  Fortunately, a relatively safe surgery can correct the problem.

Well, actually it's pretty rare for a woman to have any really visible Adam's apple.

Also, how much does that surgery cost, more or less? I keep forgetting.

Some do.

Costs vary by surgeon and where it is being performed.  I have not had it, and likely don't need it.

Yeah, I know it happens. Just, not often. And even on these pictures, there's no very extreme case (not that mine is one) and actually only the left one really has anything to worry about, should she ever for some reason feel like worrying about her Adam's apple.

Seriously, I don't see any Adam's Apple in these photos. If mine was anything like theirs, I'd never had anything done.

I agree what she is talking about is a pointy one like I have which gives off a different appearance and judgement when seen.

Mine could have been used as a coat hanger. Being skinny made it look worse. Yes, I hated the thing. I always wore high neck sweaters and scarves to hide it. And then in the late 90s, a TS character in a UK soap opera gave Adam's Apples quite some publicity. There was no escape, it had to go!

+1 here on the super prominent adam's apple. It was the first and only cosmetic surgery I did.

It's really not that expensive to shave it especially compared to other FFS surgeries. Actually, it might be the least expensive of all.

Mine is still semi visible because I am rather thin and I didn't want them to mess up my voice, but the angle has at least been smoothed out. I am not read at all because of it. The coat hanger-ish look has been corrected and that's all that matters. A little lump leftover and you'll be fine!

Time to start saving ;)

I got lucky, mine is super small and rides up really high so you cant really see it.
