So this past couple of weeks Ive been really wanting to tell her to call me Brandon instead of my birth name, So I finally just came out and told her I was trans and what I pefer to be called, She said that makes since for me to want to be referred to as Brandon, And I told her I was scared because I didn't know what her reaction would be, Her comment was you do know I run the GSA club, I didn't even know, Today I walked into her class and she said how are you doing Brandon and that made my day, I said you remembered she said damn right I would lol ;D

Just be very careful if you join that club. Even if your views on homosexuality don't change, if you openly state them, or bring religion to the group, you will alienate yourself and/or potentially get kicked out.

It would be a great idea to join the group and get support though because you keep talking about how you lack support, and this would be proactive step in the right direction. Just tread carefully.  Good luck!

Well I don't have a problem with homosexuals, As long as their happy that's fine, I'm not one to judge but at the same time my religious views about everything won't change, I have plenty of gay and bi friends and why would I do something that stupid, The whole reason I wasn't in it as a freshman or sophmore was because I didn't think it would help because gender idenity and sexual orientation are two different things

I'm just letting you know that those religious views won't be acceptable in that club. You say you have nothing against homosexuals, but the reality is having the views you hold are seen by homosexuals and their allies as homophobic. So the options are either change or essentially stay quiet.

Being in GSA means entering into the active LGBT community. It's the gay straight ALLIANCE. By joining you are not just entering a support network but also becoming an ally for ALL within the LGBT community and will be held to that standard. Hense the warning to tread carefully.

I'm sure if you keep those views to yourself you'll find a strong support network though, especially if your teacher has been so accepting and is the one running it.

In fact, not all Christians hold what I would consider homophobic/transphobic views. In fact, many view it as a misinterpretation of the scripture that mistranslated words from Greek and Aramaic and misinterpreting them to mean homosexual when sometimes they mean male prostitute and so on. It might be a minority view right now but I think homophobia is a cultural view tbh. They also tend to take Leviticus as truth, when it was just a bunch of rules for Jews back when you didn't eat shellfish or wear mixed fabrics.

No it's because she thinks I'm a lesbian she doesn't believe Transgenders or Transsexuals is real, So no your wrong, She thinks I'm gay or a Tom boy, And again yea it's a sin but I don't think it should be that's why I'm fine with homosexuals

Congrats Brandon. It is fantastic you are seeking out support. It was obvious were becoming a bit more positive in the beginning of this thread and some others. Don't be deterred by people expressing opinions in response to your own.

Sometimes, people have good intentions but come across another way in their posts because this isn't the best form of communication for nuance. Everybody here supports you - the same people who have been disagreeing with you on some points have also given you helpful advice.
