Hi there,
I'm a married man who lives in Canada. I came to this website, because at 38, i have just started to question my gender. It's funny it has taken me so long to clue in to feelings, but I guess we supress what doesn't fit with our own self-imposed values. Anyhow, I hope to gain a better understanding of how I'm feeling, and depending on my self-discovery, perhaps find a new path for myself. Thank you

Welcome back from Montreal.
There are vast post on thing here. If you do find you need to travel this path i would get a Gender Therapist ASAP. They can help you in many ways dealing with what ever aspect/degree of GID you fall into. As you know anything with health in Canada is a wait, and keep waiting game so sooner you can get the help the better your life will be.

Thank you to you both for your helpful advice on the forums and healthcare in Canada. I would not dream to think that I am special in any way, but I do have a bit of an concern with where to go on this journey. I have a very supportive wife, who has encouraged me to find my true happiness. Unfortunately, I am quite certain things wouldn't be so welcoming at work, as I am in the Canadian military, and worse, the kind that goes to sea. I would think it would be hard to find a more homophobic workplace, than one where you live with 200 guys every time you're away from home. I have spent my whole life either denying these feelings, or hoping for the day that it would be safe to express them. I'm not sure how to progress from here. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

HappeeSim, welcome, always nice to see another Canadian on board. I live in Toronto area (I know what the response from people living in Vancouver say, sorry to hear that), A sis living in Vancouver I get out to see and a cousin living in Victoria, got there for my first visit a few years ago. The military, you are right, not a place for a male to express a female side, this has to be hard on you. Aces on your supportive wife, she is an angel you are blessed to have, hold on to her tightly.
I don't know if there are resources & support in your city for the LGBT community. Perhaps you may find a Vancouver facility & web site with resources that may be of use.

From my teens & occasionally throughout my life I liked to dress female & wasn't until I was 60 that I finally got educated via the internet & youtube over the last 12 years that I finally figured out female brain so I am trans but will not be transitioning.
There is a lot of resources here. Ask away as the biggest resource is the experiences of all the people here. You will make new friends. Welcome to the family!
