Title: a question of tucking...

So I know the basics of it, being sure to tuck every time I go out without my man-mask on. However, I usually try my best to dehydrate on those days, as getting everything /back/ into position is a major pain. Is there something I'm overlooking or doing wrong?

I don't know the method you're using, but my first way was the nylons-cut-off-at-the leg method...now I use the two panties-too small method. I'm pretty quick with it now. I've even been able to re-tuck after standing, with one hand. (Not much down there now LOL)
Either way, with practice and HRT things got a LOT easier. Practice, practice, practice.

It gets easier. It was a bit painful pre-HRT. I wouldn't tuck all the way up, just ease the boys into the surface recess and then put two pair of tight panties over them.
After only a month or two on spiro, I'd had enough shrinkage that I can stuff them all the way up the inguinal canal and I don't even notice they're there.

Ten years post-orchie and the weenie is that of a six year old, so I don't even bother with doubled small panties anymore, there's nothing to hide as it spends most of it's time like a turtle when his neck is retracted in it's shell. Only potential problem is skin occluding to glans due to warm moist environment, one needs to watch it or it gets painful getting unstuck.

sorry to backtrack the conversation a little, but you say you try to dehydrate.... can i ask what the benefits of that are?
i've been tucking since..... gosh, i can't remember ever NOT doing it, i don't even have systems of thought for it
it's just automatic and comfortable [and i think maybe my bits developed into the tuck rather than needing to be taught]
but i've never noticed any difference that could be due to my liquid levels... maybe i need to pay more attention ;o

I don't think liquid levels is what they are worrying about, it is getting everything back together after peeing.

That's exactly it. If I dehydrate, I don't have to untuck to pee, then try to get everything back in place in a potentially less-private place.

I don't really understand the dehydration. I'm pre-HRT and I use the 2x panties method... it works, though I'm small and it doesn't always stay in position. I'm not sure what I can do about that, though... I use a size 6 and 8 panty (Fruit of the loom).
I do have to put some tissue in between (3 squares of good toilet paper is enough) for moisture control - otherwise the sac gets sores.

It's kind of like this. The more you drink, the more frequently you need to use the restroom, which requires you to untuck, and then reset everything afterwards. Cutting down your fluid intake while dressed makes this occur less frequently, so less hassle(but very unhealthy if done more than occasionally). I may be larger than normal(I never liked the thing, so I didn't really bother to find out) but for me it takes a lot of maneuvering to get everything to stay where it needs to be long enough to pull my gaff into place.

Ah... I totally understand. I drink a TON during the day... when I go on spiro I may turn into a leaky bucket.
But tucking isn't a problem for me... staying tucked is - especially since she likes to shrink up during the day ;) I will say... it's the most amazing feeling in the world to be flat in tights!

Likewise, since overall health is such a concern for every stage of transition I've been carrying a 32oz thermos with me. I usually drain it at least twice, sometimes three times, in a day.

oh! okay! i get it now! haha i thought the dehydration had something to do with the actual tucking process XD
i always had dehydration problems before, and spiro + not drinking dooesn't do me any favours, so i don't really have a choice.
i just have to go every 40 minutes and deal with the consequences ;p
i find tucking really easy though, i just do it as i stand up and then don't think about it
maybe it has something to do with my tendency to wear ridiculously skinny jeans or tights or both all of the time. hmmm.

I've been thinking I need some girly jeans... :D
Couldn't wear them to work yet, though!

honestly, nobody's noticed yet. I just keep all my stuff in my jacket now instead of my pants pockets. =P
If you work in a more officey type place you might want to go with either khakis or slacks though, obviously ^^;

I'd actually recommend hydrating more than usual. I think it's good for the junk to be untucked and retucked frequently. Otherwise, I've heard that skin reactions can occur.

At this point I've lost so much weight... they'll probably just think it's smaller men's clothing :D
And yes... an office - but one where Jeans would be OK.

Not intending to derail the thread, but girlie jeans mfg's got lazy and left the zipper in front even though girls don't have dicks, side zips look a lot flatter but make tucking a more radical procedure for pre-op MtF's. I tried girlie jeans but found that the pockets are entirely too shallow for a wallet or car keys if you don't want to haul a purse around everywhere. Then I discovered Levi's 510 skinny jeans, if your legs and butt are in any way girlie looking it will certainly show that off nicely.

That's not a bad idea, thanks for the advice. Here's hoping the HRT is kind to me ^^;

I bought six pairs different shades of blue and a few black from Amazon, best price and quick delivery. Try one pair of your preferred shade and see how nice they look on you first. They are listed as men's or boys but when you get a little girlie fat on you they look just killer female!

I'm sorry. I seem to be the cause of so many thread derailments ;)
But I have an important question!! How is the crotch space? I want something tightish there for tucking - not sure I'd get that with men's jeans?

They are low rise, I pull them all the way up tight in the crotch and the tops are still just under my navel, but I don't have any nuts and the lil guy has atrophied a lot, so it's no biggie. If you have to tuck it will work great! I always feel a need to snicker to myself over how cis males seem to have a need for lots of baggage in the crotch as if they are super hung or something, these ride high in the crotch so standing to pee isn't an option unless you unbutton and unzip, I am a squatter anyway so not a problemo.

Could you tape it down and then just pee without untucking, obviously you would need to make sure you wipe really well afterwards. Practice is important though, it took me quite a while just to figure out how to tuck properly.

I always had an "expander"...usually a short stump, but when aroused it was normal size.
Since HRT, the thing is normally always sheathed. I used to worry about it coming untucked, but now almost a year in, it's not really detectable even when it pops free. Since it's completely mushy, really nothing to worry about even when not tucked. But again, I don't normally wear skin-tight clothing. YMMV.

How do you prevent sores? I've gotten a few down there, now that I'm tucked most of the time. I use tissue (as I mentioned) to absorb moisture, but I don't think the sores are bacterial or fungal... just sore.

You'd be surprised! Pick up some women's vaginal medication at the pharmacy, throw away the applicator and apply some, they will go away quickly.
