Straight Man Gets Emotional Over Gay Brother's Struggles After Wedding (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/09/28/straight-men-defriended-gay-brother-wedding_n_4003126.html)
James Nichols, The Huffington Post, 09/28/2013 8:42 am EDT

In this emotional video, David Stevens, a straight man, discusses what happened after he posted pictures of his gay brother's wedding on Facebook. After telling the reader about the beautiful and loving relationship between his brother and his partner, Stevens shares a Facebook message he received following their decision to tie the knot. The message reads:

QuoteHey David, I am removing you from my friends list. Sorry man, that latest post is way over the top. Homosexuals joining in holy matrimony? I don't think so. The holy bible speaks out against homosexuality and speaks highly of holy matrimony between a man and a woman...

-----------

This is a post by a straight man insulted in FB by some fundamentalist twit and his response to it.

Nice and thought provoking.

Another box of tissues needed BTW

If only there were more people in the world like Mr Stevens.

Such a tender, honest, and beautifully expressed video. He has my utmost respect and admiration.

This makes me think of me and my brother...my brother is gay, and it breaks my heart to think of anyone ever discriminating against him. I think what people don't get is that they see a "homosexual" - they don't realize that the person has people who love them. My brother used to get guys hurting him at school, and he used to come home with bruises on his chest because the guys would give him "tittie twisters." It's really damn easy for someone who doesn't know a gay person to talk crap, but when you see someone you love go through that, your tone changes.

Similarly, my brother has always had my back too. He's told numerous people "I will have my brother's back to the day I die." ( :'( lol) I remember another time I was crying and I told him that I felt like I was seen as subhuman because I was trans. He said "but that's just it. You aren't subhuman. You're the most human person I know! Because you put yourself out there and you live your life the way you want to, most people pack themselves away because they are scared. You're not subhuman. You're superhuman!"
