Title: The journey is about to begin
Post by: Eva Marie on September 30, 2013, 09:43:45 PM
I just got my hormone letter from my therapist last Saturday and i see my endo the first of next week.  I'll make the switch from a low dose to a transitioning dose of HRT at that time.

The words in the letter "she has made the decision to to transition legally from male to female" made this extremely real. I'm really doing this at 51 years of age  :)

I'm nervous, scared, and excited all at the same time.

It should be an interesting journey, and i'm sure that i'll have some questions for you ladies and gents along the way!

Eva,
Do not worry about age, it is just a number. Glad things are coming to where you want them to be. As for your journey there will be good days and bad days. Just do not let a bad day be back by another bad day. Find a excape plan, something you can do that always make you happy no matter what. Keep that in place for those back to back bad days.

I am around your age and in 2 days i will be 6 months post. Never to late, just as we all wish we could have done it a a younger age.

Hugs and walk the path you have been handed with pride.

Izzy

Congratulations!

I know what you mean. In June I finally saw one of the two provincial gender psychiatrists after an 18 month wait. Thankfully I was already on hormones, but getting my carry letter was defiantly a "s*** just got real" moment.

Thanks for the kind words of encouragement - they are needed right now  :)

Sorry Eva, just saw this.

I can't say what it will be for you. I know that when I was in the same situation, I was equally scared. I ran toward my fear instead of away from it. I've never regretted it.

I'm here if you need me, and I really mean that.

Thanks Suzi - that means a lot to me!  :)

I am also tired of running and hiding and I've decided to meet this head on.

Hey Eva! almost 48 years old here, started HRT fairly short time ago and I could swear this morning I looked like Lurch from the Addam's family in the mirror this morning. I let it go though because us girls are ALWAYS to critical of our looks and stuff! *Giggles*

I've been on low dose HRT for about 4 years and even on the low dose it's made some visible changes to me. My therapist tells me that I look very femme to her. Still, I tend to still see a dude when I look in the mirror but these days not always. Others see something else. I've been told that I pass better as a girl than I do as a guy. I guess that beauty is in the eye of the beholder

The mind plays tricks on us and the Lurch that you see in the mirror just might look like a very cute girl to someone else. Please don't beat yourself up about it Jessica.

Dedwards - I will definitely post updates!

Eva, I think you have a beautiful face, definitely look younger than your age and very femme.  I always have an image in my mind of people who never post pictures of their face, I've got to say with you I was pleasantly surprised.  :D

<--blushing - and thanks!

And that reminded me to try the new gallery thing; I put a couple of recent pics there.

Joules - 60 is just a number hun. I was a skinny, short little dude with long hair until I got into my upper 20s and I wish that I had done this back then when my body was very female like. But at least we both finally figured it out ! :)
