Many applicants, few grants. If you are good at writing, you have a shot.

You need to write a great story. I have applied every year since 2009. But this will be the last year. If I can't raise the money myself, I will go without.

I knew a few girls over the years who have put there writing skills to work. Last i heard they are still trying. But you never know what might be the right words to make the cut

I've made the acquaintance of the most recent winner, before she won, via another forum. She was utterly stunned that she had won and very thankful for it.
