I have made an appointment to see my GP this afternoon to discuss my gender dysphoria. I came out to my wife 2 years ago and she has been wonderful, I cannot think of a way she could have made it any easier, and it was actually her that rang and made the appointment for me, and will be coming with me, but even so, I am soo nervous..Still, its a step I feel I need to take.....Wish me luck!

I'm actually excited too, in a nervous way, finally after all these years of hiding it, burying it, and then admitting it, I'm on my way, so to speak.

You'll do fine, and it's actually real easy to do once you start talking.  The words just seem to flow like water, and the relief is unbelievable.

Congratulations... this is a huge step, and I am certain you will be tremendously relieved and proud after taking it!  Please keep us posted!

Thanks for the words of support everyone. The appointment went really well, my wife came with me and held my hand as I explained to the doctor how I felt. She has no working experience if gender dysphoria but talked me through bits and pieces and make a huge effort to point out that although I had young children, I'd function much better as a parent if I was myself, and happy, rather than living in misery as someone else.

She told me she'd look into it more to see what the options were and I will have a follow up appointment in a week or so to discuss that. Overall, huge weight lifted off my shoulders!!
