Title: Anyone gone as their former self for Halloween?
Post by: Jennygirl on October 25, 2013, 07:40:33 PM

So there is a party tonight (the first of several Halloween parties) and I haven't had time to get my real costume together because I've been so busy with work. I thought it might be funny to go as my former male self because I still have a few articles of clothing, but I'm a little afraid to for some reason.
Has anyone done this after going full time? If so how was it? Scary? Fun? Dysphoric? Hilarious? I'm very curious!

Oooh fun :)
Yeah I want to be Leeloo from the movie fifth element, but I still have to find 4" elastic banding and make the costume.
My friends are excited at the thought of seeing me attempt to crossdress- I just dunno how it will feel. Maybe I will play dress up when I get home and see how it feels. On one hand I think it could be really funny if it's total "male fail" or whatever- but on the other hand maybe it would totally suck!
Also I just though how funny it would be to draw a mustache on. Stuff like that really would be pretty funny

Do what makes you feel comfortable. Honestly, I can understand why you feel afraid. Still, I think this goes to show what inner strength and pride you have. I admire that about you.
As I haven't gone full time at all, I have no personal experiences with that. Though, I have considered going to work in a female halloween costume to gauge the reactions of my co-workers.
Good luck and have fun!

Haha, I don't think I can make my long hair look short enough to pull it off. I used to always have a buzz cut. I *may* have a pair of pants and a shirt hanging around from the old days...I think I might actually put it on and see what I even look like! But no, I don't think I could ever try to purposefully go as "him." But a hilarious rendition of me in his clothes may be pretty mind-blowing to see the change from 9+ years ago...the last time I had a buzz cut and before I started anything.

For me, I would be inclined to file it under 'bad ideas'.
Hard enough to get people to take the real me serious, I can't picture dressing up as old me, and not being mistaken as a relapse or something.
Well, that and me with no wig and no jewellery or purse is nothing really. Until the day arrives when I can walk out the door in a skirt, and heels and proper makeup and evidence of breasts, I don't really have much to undo.

Luckily this may be an easy decision for me because I'm so tired after work today that I doubt I will feel like partying tonight. Blehh.
Still though it's interesting food for thought!

In 11th grade I dressed up as my 9th grade self. Everyone kept asking me why the hell I was wearing such ugly clothes, and I forgot that most students wouldn't have known me from back then... there was a lot of explaining and it didn't seem so clever by the end of the day. :P
(If you want to dress up as Leeloo, a fetish and clubwear clothier by the name of Artifice Clothing has a version made out of PVC vinyl they've been doing for a few years. I've been tempted myself. *3*)

Love it, Jenny! :D
I'm expected to wear a costume to the transgender meeting next Thursday, but haven't worn a costume for Halloween since the 4th grade, and I don't know what to do. My future self is out.

Jenny, you're a tougher woman than I. The thought of going back to who I used to be makes me vaguely ill.

I haven't dressed as my "former self" which basically is little to no diffrent exept my haircut and dresstyle.
But I have tried dressed up in maid uniform working on a festival and it was pretty fun even when we got ->-bleeped-<- from it the day after, (my boss didnt like crossdressing)
there where 1 time the girl said I just needed boobs then I would look like a girl where I felt dyshoria but beside that it where more for fun.
-
if you wonder about it you can always try out the outfit some days before, I usunally always do that with my costumes to check if theres some details I need to correct first.

So Jenny, did you actually do this?
I didn't actually go as my previous self for halloween, but this inspired me to take a little series of photos to show the progression from the old me (complete with faux goatee) to now :) These were all taken on the same day, not over time, but I did manage to capture my old self pretty well (a little too well). The camera seems to have stretched the photos though, so they look a little weird.

Such a cutie in that last pic omg! :icon_wave:
Wow what a cool sequence to see- especially because you did such a great job matching the shots. The things like definition of your true figure and arm/shoulder position that seem to naturally take shape as you present differently are especially neat.
I know what you mean about "a little too well". I felt the same thing when I was looking at myself in the mirror under bright light, but once I got to the party I relaxed a lot. Someone said "OHHH a mustache, how creative!" when I walked in, and that gave me hope that I'd been read as a cis girl dressing as a guy. One can only hope!
Funny story, I actually ended up deeply kissing my crush (best way I could describe it) for the 2nd time that night who is a straight identified male. He is moving away, so we ended up talking about the times we've shared together and I ended up crying on his shoulder as he hugged me which sent me into dreamland for him.. and then we kissed. I better stop talking about it because I'm already tearing up as I write this! Yipes! Looking back it felt like something in a movie, but any binary believer knowing the details would have been like "what the ****?!" hahaha.
A pretty good night all in all, and it was worth the risk for the hilarious reaction I got from friends.
