This is technically my second post, but I suppose you'll all forgive me for that :) I've been in this process for almost two years now, and I'm still slightly ashamed to admit that I have exactly one other transgender friend; I'd really like to get to know other members of the Trans* community, so here I am.
I suppose I should write a little background information? I always felt very uncomfortable as male, and after a few hellish years in highschool as the most flamboyant queen anyone has met (also, a well dressed punching bag) I decided that transition was something I simply had to do...after a short while as a stereotype of female, I sort of figured out that I wasn't exactly female either; sexualy and physically I always felt that I should be female, but I like quiffs, pompadours, vests, bow-ties and blazers-Something quite rare among transfeminine people I suppose. A friend/hairdresser once thought I was FtM; I suppose in a really weird way that's an image I'm drawn to, that very dapper, androgynous look. Genderqueer Transexual female is what I've arrived at.
It's been one hell of a journey to get here, but I'm happier for it, I've found a hairstyle that works for me provided it doesn't rain, and one of my parents will talk to me again. And I'm going to take that as a victory.
Also, does anyone know how to add a profile picture and gender marker?

V M, Thanks a bunch-I've never been the most tech savy individual, and this helps.
Kat-I do costume and fashion illustration (though I'm still technically a student). All of my fashion work tends to be androgynous, and none of my costumes are. I work in ink and guache mostly, but watercolor pencil is also fun.

Hi,
Welcome from the Land Down Under.
It often takes a while to find our identity, and that is what this journey is all about!

Hey, Andi! :D (Yep, I'm going with that until you tell me otherwise.)
Welcome to the family. We've just adopted you. Come in, relax, make yourself at home. We have cookies.
I don't think there's any "wrong" way to be who you are. You simply are you, and that's good stuff. You don't have to avoid transitioning because you think you won't dress the part properly. Of course, don't let me talk you into it if you're happy just the way you are. This is not a place for judgement. We love you no matter what course you take. Feel free to poke around and ask many questions. I can't stress enough how friendly and helpful everyone is, they're just the greatest. :icon_hug:

Hi, there. :icon_wave:
I can't remember who it was, but someone on these forums said something like, "I don't want to crawl out of one box just to crawl into another". That's how I feel. Don't worry about fitting into a role. That's not the point. The point is finding who you are and embodying that in the most freely expressed way possible. :)
I am FtM, but I still like things like... painting my nails >.>... and... my long hair and... unicorns... >.> *eyeballs unicorn forest*
I am not too worried about fitting into the stereotypical idea of a male, because that's just not me. Besides, everyone is unique and there's no wrong way to be yourself. :)
So, as Maggie said. Make yourself at home, have some cookies and some tiramisu! ;D You're among family now. :)
Also, you have to make a certain amount of posts before you can upload a picture and select a gender. I'm not sure exactly how many though.

Speaking of unicorns, has anyone here seen The Last Unicorn? That's kinda how I felt when I came here. It's an animated film about a lone unicorn who sets out to find others like herself. She is magically transformed into a human while on her journey, but once she finds others like herself she returns to her true form. Erm... yeah, well... its like one of my favorite movies... hehe. :icon_love:

The last Unicorn. Yes, that is actually one of the movies I used to watch as a kid xD That one, and Little Nemo in Slumberland. Every time someone talks about Nemo, he is the one I think about, not a fish xD
And hey, Kai? I am not really the all macho manly man myself. Sure, I don't like nail polish, but I would not really fall under the stereotypical idea of a male. So, I know what you mean ;)

Haha, yay! ;D And yeah, I donno why I like to do my nails sometimes. I don't do it very often, but when I do its always either black or some shade of blue or a dark purple. Chrome is good too. I never do pink or red or anything like that. That's a little too feminine for me. ::)

I had unicorn during a trip to Avalon, a few years back. It was very lean and tasted like magic and rainbows, but boy was it expensive! ::)

Thanks everyone. And I agree with you all that unicorns are amazing, awesome, and delicious. The white truffles make for a very balanced finish.
Now it's my turn to run away awkwardly...
Oh, and by the way, Magdalena: Andi was close. It's Li, short for Lisa.

"Unicorn variations" by Roger Zelazny was one of my favourite short stories ever - it is actually a collection of short stories with the same title, most of them being just beautiful :)
