I'm not sure where to go for support or to hang out. My girlfriend of twenty years is not dealing well with this at all and we have not spoken for two days she is against me starting T or spending a dime for surgery and yes I'm not asking for her to give me any financial support I can do that for myself. I'm not very social and not to be ugly or anything but I don't feel like the gay community is much support. I get comfort by reading postings in here since I found the site. I live in Virginia and I would like to have a buddy or just some support in person. Any ideas?

Baby, Susan's is THE place to go for support. I have never in my 47 years seen a place like this with so much mutual respect, honest caring and knowledgeable people. There is simply no way to go it alone here unless you do not involve yourself. Where else can you find so much knowledge, caring and fun all in one place? If you need a buddy, I will be the first! PM me anytime you need to and rant, vent, cry or share anything you need to and I will help if I can. It is the least I can do for my baby brother, OK? Here is a "BIG HUG" to start things off. You will only be alone if you choose to be. Love ya! :)

Big hug! I don't have any information on VA support groups, but you're definitely among friends here, hon! Hugs, Devlyn

You may PM me as well, I totally get where you are coming from. I live in a fairly small town in upstate NY and there are no support groups close by. Many of my friends are trying to be supportive but just are uncomfortable or are not sure how to continue our friendship now that I no longer present as a lesbian cis female. Hell I got so desperate for a friend just to hang out with I put an ad on craigslist, that didn't go so well, I got a lot of genital pics and offers that made me sick. I come on here everyday but rarely post, this is a very supportive and caring community. So please feel free to PM anytime and I will get back to you as soon as I can, in the meantime know that there are people out there who care and are here for you.

Agree with you about the gay community, they try to understand mostly but their uniqueness is based in their sexual preferences whereas ours is based in our gender. I honestly think that no-one can truly understand except those of us going through it ourselves. My boyfriend/fiancé/soulmate doesn't understand, lucky for me (VERY VERY lucky) he is bi and doesn't give a toss about my gender but still he struggles to concieve what I am going through.
I feel your pain hun and I wish I lived closer, if you are ever coming to the UK on holiday PM me!
