Title: Endocrinologist

My doctor gave me a referral to an endocrinologist and I have my appointment with them tomorrow. What should I expect at the endocrinologist appointment? Will I need a referral from my psychiatrist too before I get started with HRT? I'm going through Kaiser if that helps.

In my case I had to have the WPATH formatted letter from my therapist. Then the Endo gave me the talk about what hormones do, etc. After he knew I was informed about the process and understood the risks involved I was sent for baseline lab test's. After reviewing the results I was given script for Spiro and "E" and sent on my very happy way after scheduling a recheck appointment. Good luck to you baby. Hope this helped a little. Here is a BIG HUG for your appointment. :)

I haven't gone to my appointment yet (Dec 26, whooooo)... but my therapist is adamant that he rarely needs to send a letter to endos any more. It could just be the endos and GPs in my area who don't require the letter, too.
If I get there and need the letter to get my AA's I'll be quite pissed all around (since I've asked *everyone* I possibly could before going into this appointment).

The therapists letter should be all you need.Generally it is a check up, information, and blood work. you may or may not get a script for HRT at the first visit.

Thank you ladies! I have a referral from my doctor, not my therapist. Hopefully, that's all I need.

Worst case, she should arrange for blood work and request a letter at your next appointment... though none of us want to wait that long ;)

I got my lab work done and if my results come back okay, I'll be starting HRT on Monday ;D
