Title: Transgender teenager makeup tips? I'm clueless

Hi....My name is Kayla and I'm a transgender teenage girl. I tried coming out to my parents by writing them a letter but sadly they don't believe me. I've used my moms makeup before but always seem to get caught doing it and then I get yelled at and get grounded and so on and so forth.
I'm really looking for some makeup tips for me so that I know where to get some, what kind of makeup, and how I can apply it in a way that's not obvious but still gives me that feminine feeling and look :)
Kisses

Use tinted moisturizer. Any drug store should have it for about $8 (Rite Aid, Walgreens, etc). If you get some that's close to your skin tone, it'll be mostly invisible, and give you a "glowing" healthy skin look.
And hey, it's just moisturizer! Even guys should use that stuff (especially if it has an SPF factor)

Nope, they're all about the same as far as I know. I use Cover Girl, just because that's what I started with...but feel free to ask the counter girl what's out there, and what she might recommend, considering your skin tone and condition. The clerks are there to help customers find what they need... :) (And what's on sale..!)
*hugs*
And remember, with makeup "less is more"...with tinted moisturizer, a dab about the size of a pea will do one cheek. That's all I do with that, is the cheekbone and fleshy part of the cheek (between the jaw lines)

How do you get up the courage to do that tho?

Well, I know that they aren't looking to tease me, they are hoping to make a sale. :)
I understand you're in school yet, trust me when I say the adult world is different than school. If you go in there and say "A friend suggested I try some tinted moisturizer, because it's good for the skin" they (most likely) won't say anything...and if they do, it'll be a question like "Oh, just use regular moisturizer."
In which case..."Well, me and my friend were talking...and she suggested tinted moisturizer because it'll make my skin look better in the light." Or somesuch.
Really, it's that easy. Yes, it's a bit scary at first...but you can do it. The fact you're brave enough to admit to yourself you want makeup tells me that you can do this. Good luck!!

You may also want to talk to a counselor at school about your feelings about being transgendered...s/he might have some local resources for you, since your parents don't sound particularly supportive.
:)

Oh, I assumed there was just one? Around here (in WA) typically students have just one. Academics and social issues are the same counselor, the students are divided by last name (i.e., Counselor Bob will have students with last names beginning with A-F, etc)
What are the kinds you can choose from?

Ok, in which case pick one that you feel comfortable with, and let them know you expect to be able to talk "in confidence". They already probably do that, it's like doctor-patient privilege, they won't say anything to anybody else without your ok.
Your student handbook might have some info in it, too.
Also, perhaps your school has a LGBT (Lesbian-Gay-Bi-Transgender) support group? I would be cautious about seeing anyone other than a counselor, though...the more people who know, the more likely your trans-status might get out. If you're comfortable with that, no prob...but if you're not, a little discretion goes a long way.

Mascara that matches your hair color is less obvious then dark black. Just put it on lightly at first then as your confidence grows, go for more.
For foundation, Loreal True Match, blends nicely and is lightly visible if you do it right.

If you can go mall walking on your own, stop at a big store like Penny's and ask for a makeover.

QuoteCan't help with makeup (although the "color them the same as your hair" sounds legit)
Hmm...on second thought, if you dye your hair bright colors, like blue or neon green...I'm not really qualified to say if that would look good or freaky. Or good and freaky.
Of course, it all depends on the effect you want.
:)

My original post:
Can't help with makeup (although the "color them the same as your hair" sounds legit)...but mine were pretty bushy until I had them waxed, and then discovered threading.
Either service costs about $10-15USD (give 'em a $2 tip), and most places I've been in don't even blink when requesting "I want my brows shaped like a woman's", or "Can you make me brows look more feminine?"
Only one place said she had no clue what I was talking about (English was not her first language), but she did have posters on the wall, so I just pointed out what I wanted. It turned out pretty good.

First take good care of your skin. With bad skin, makeup will look horrible. Second, skip the tinted moisturizer and go to foundation. Get medium coverage. If your dry skin get liquid if your oily get powder. Then focus on eyes. Use neutral colors

Happy skin feels so good it should be for all genders, and skincare is basically the same for everyone (folks say that T makes you oily and acne-prone; I'm all natural, normal T, dry skin, go figure. ::))
I wash with oil (google "oil cleansing skin") which sounds weird but works well for most people once you find the right oil. Coconut and olive cause pimples for a lot of people, castor oil will dry you and needs to be diluted; safflower, grapeseed, sweet almond are frequently recommended. I'm trying avocado, but it's still too early to comment.
And shaving? Kiss My Face shaving cream. Comes in a pump-bottle, like a moisturizing lotion, apply to oiled damp skin and it's crazy slick.
Just what works for me. You'll have to experiment for yourself.
