Title: The thought of going to movies scare me
Post by: ssneha23 on November 09, 2013, 08:57:41 PM
Have anyone of you felt scared going to the movies or the mall where they have pat down search?

Yesterday, for some strange reason I was scared of going through the security check at the Movies. Not sure what happens everywhere else, but in India security pats you down for general illegal stuff. I am yet to gather courage to go full-time, and so found myself in the guys line. Every moment as I came closer to the security check person, the very thought of getting patted down by another guy near scared me to death or something. I was in near hysteria as I reached him. I somewhat yelled at the guy to not touch me, I just turned my pockets inside out and just rushed past him. I was at the movies with some of my females friends, it took them near 15-20 minutes to calm me down, I was shaking uncontrollably.

I have never experienced this before, I have been going to the movies for god knows how long. The experience confirmed in my mind, that I should have been born a girl, because that's who I am and have always been.

Thanks for your patience for listening through my rant...

xoxo - Sneha

As far as I know that would be illegal in most of the western world.  Most they can do is ask to check your bag, and even then, you don't have to legally show them.

I thought it was bad that I avoid airports because of possible pat downs. The movies! Good thing I don't do that often so I would never miss it if I ever ended up in India.

I honestly would not go places that did pat down searches, I don't need to shop in a mall that badly. Is it like that everywhere there?

Yes, its the same everywhere. However, some of the best places use a metal detector. I guess, these are ok, as they do not require physical touch.

Ye, I could deal with a metal detector. Are those places more expensive or harder to get to?

Fortunately this hasn't happened yet where I live, but if it did, I would just remain calm and allow them to pat me down and if they ask me to turn out my pockets I would do so and if they needed to look through my purse I would have no qualms about that.  But during the pat down (because I am a non-op) if they were to say feel something they shouldn't make any facial expressions or say anything but just remain doing what they're doing and leave it at that.

But going through a metal detector would be a different thing. Personally, I think it would be easier.

Security check at the movies (or at the mall), I've never heard of that happening.  Where do you live that that is happening?

The only time I have been patted down was at the airport.  And really a pat down?  Are they feeling between your legs or something, if that happened I'm sure lots of women would complain.
