Title: Breasts, Lumps, Doctors, Mammograms & Boyfriends
Post by: Buffy on July 02, 2007, 03:48:37 AM
About two weeks ago, I started having pain in my right breast. The nipple had become very sore and red and on examination,I thought I could feel a lump behind the nipple.

I phoned up my Doctor (who was unfortunately away) and could only get to see her yesterday. She examined me and decided to send me for a Mammogram, which I went for today. I had basically about 10 days of worry and sleepless nights.

So today I went along to a brand new hospital, filled in lots of forms, showed my medical insurance card and was sent into a cubilcle by a wonderful nurse to change into a gown.

A very nice older gentleman came in and introduced himself and me to him. We discussed my form (the normal questions came up), when was your last period?, when was your last mammogram? Was I on the contaceptive pill? I explained to him my past history, he looked at me, smiled and said "hey you look great, where did you have your augmentation done and what type is it?"

He did my left breast first, then my right, then looked at me an smiled, "No tumour, no lump"... What I have found is servere inflamation in the tissue at the back of the right nipple, the left is 1.5cm, the right is nearly 2.5cm. The implants are fine and no problems with them.

I actually burst into tears when he said those word .. 'No tumour, no lump", wow did it feel good, I had been so scared at what they would find. I went and removed all the gel , got dressed and then went back to see my own Doctor with the results.

The prognosis is that the nipple has suffered damage, trauma,  become infected, inflamed and the skin has hardened due to this. I have anti-biotics, anti-inflammatories and some anti-biotic cream to rub into the nipple.

It appears that this is the result of an over zealous boyfriend (we all know how guys can be when their aroused) and the damage was caused during foreplay......

This has been a sobering experience, Transwoman, Transsexual, Woman or whatever I may be, I guess, I have felt over the last two weeks how any genetic Female would feel, scared, frightened, apprehensive and then utterly and totaly relieved.

My breasts are important and are a symbol of my womanhood....

I can relate to guys getting rough... ouch.  But more importantly I'm so relieved that you are ok and thanks for reminding us of the importance of breast self examination.

Buffy!  OMG I'm so happy that you are okay!

Does your friend have sandpaper for a face or razor teeth or what?  My gosh girl, tell him it hurts!

thanks for sharing Buffy.  Many of us (including me) hate this sort of thing.  I can't stand mammograms but I know I need to get a check up once in a while.

I am very glad you are ok. It would be  very ironic to get the breasts I've always needed to end up with breast cancer. This thought has crossed my mind several times.

There is a really cute tear jerker movie called "Why I wore lipstick to my mastectomy". You can buy the book as well. The cute blonde from scrubs (Sarah Chalke) is the main character.

You can also download the movie via itunes.

I think it is a movie any woman would appreciate.

Wow, I'm very glad that you are OK Becky.  Hmmmm....rough play, eh?   Geez, how rough can guys get to cause damage to a breast?  That's scary!  I would certainly  hate it if one of my implants bursts during  "fun times".  :)  I have to keep my maze under my pillow just in case. ;)
