Hi All,
New to this forum but some of you may know me form other transgender forums and/or Facebook.
I am a MTF transgender woman in her late 40s. I am married to an unsupportive wife and at present I am forced by family circumstances to live exclusively as a male.
I have wanted to be a girl since the age of about six and have been cross-dressing to a greater or lesser extent throughout my life. My female identity, which was latent thought most of my life began to emerge after I turned 40 and has been growing ever since, with a noticeable acceleration in the last 18 months.
In January of 2013 I finally figured out that I need to eventually live my life as a woman. I have given this a lot of thought and I am planning to begin my transition before the end of 2015.
I have joined this site hoping to widen my support network and hopefully to make friends, specially those who have either begun their transition late in life or are seriously considering doing so.
My female name was chosen about 8 years ago and identify fully with it. If you age going to shorten my name, as many like to do, I would prefer that use "Kate".

Hi Kathryn, Welcome to Susan's. I started my transition just before my forty seventh birthday. So like you I started a bit late, but it's never to late to start your journey. If you have any questions please ask as there are many people here that love to help.
Hugs,
Bethany Dawn

Hi Kathryn! Welcome to the family. You are not alone as our stories could be carbon copies. I started HRT at 47 years old and have been on it for two months. I knew after the first month it was the best decision I ever made. Enjoy your transition as it makes you feel really free and happy.

If all go's well with my mammogram and bone density test I should start HRT 2 months short of 64. Pat

Hi Kathryn :)
I'm in my mid 40s and just getting going, too. Like you, I've done my best to avoid it while always knowing that it would come and get me in the end.
Let's hope it's a relatively easy ride ^-^

Hi!
I couldn't take another day of faking it at age 43. Apparently it is quite common to transition when you hit middle age.
All the best,
Jill

Hi Kate and a warm welcome to our family here at Susan's. I can fully understand what you're going through, for I too am at that age and I am also faced with the same problems that you're being faced with to some extent. But we must do what is best for us. :)
